Today we’d like to introduce you to Phoebe Flexman.
Hi Phoebe, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I was a full-time mom to 4 amazing kids, after a divorce I decided to go back to school. I attended SWINA and received my certificate in aesthetics. I absolutely loved school. I made lasting relationships with some of the staff as well as my classmates.
My first job out of school was at a waxing center and I can honestly say I loved going to work. I had several clients I saw on a regular basis, which I still consider my friends. After 5 years at the waxing center, I made the jump to go out on my own.
It has truly been such a blessing. I continually get to meet some pretty great people who come in as clients. It has also made the balance of home life and work life much easier. I have a wonderful husband, 5 children, and 2 grandchildren.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I went out on my own right before Covid hit. That caused a lot of challenges, as many small businesses also felt. My salon suite was originally set to open in May 2020, but with supply shortages and other issues, I did not get in until September 2020.
Another big challenge is getting my name out there and building clientele. My best advertisers are my clients who have sent in their friends and family.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am a full body/face waxer (male outside of the underwear area only). I use a high-quality hard wax that works great and is more gentle on the skin than most waxes. I strive to operate as efficiently as possible. I give my clients the attention of a perfectionist in a minimal amount of time. I have over 7 years of experience.
Any big plans?
I am looking forward to growing my clientele while keeping a good family/work-life balance.
