Meet Phalene Leichtman of The Phacialist in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Phalene Leichtman.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Phalene. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My closest friend asked me one day, “why aren’t you an esthetician?” After she uttered that question, almost demanding I become one, my life made sense. Nothing was ever more clear to me, I HAD to become an esthetician! How had I never thought of it myself? A month later I started my program at the Southwest Institute of Natural Aesthetics in Tempe. I woke up every single day excited and ready for all the knowledge I would gain there. I even took outside certifications and researched every detail to advance with my new skill. I was, and still am obsessed with skin, skincare products, and technology used on the skin. I also crave a deep understanding of how product ingredients and technology affect the skin externally as well as internally.

I don’t want to bore you with all the intricate details that followed, but let just say The Phacialist grew out of my passion for skincare and non-toxic products.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I believe when someone follows their passion the journey is perfect even with bumps in the road. I actually do not want a smooth road and I welcome the bumps and turns. All of the obstacles I have passed created the space for growth and building an even stronger business. My growth so far along this road has been learning to balance being a business owner while evolving my craft.

Tell us more about the business.
The Phacialist specializes in creating a holistic approach to facials and at-home skincare regimens. I provide non-toxic treatments for acne, anti-aging, hyperpigmentation, melasma, and hydrating desert skin. I also utilize different modalities to achieve desired results with micro-needling, dermaplaning, peels, and LED light therapy.

My “Phacials” are customized to meet individual needs since everyone’s skin is different. I often incorporate organic oils and aloe to hydrate during my Phacials and use teas and clay to clarify and detox the skin.

My goal is to offer people an alternative to Botox and fillers while using clean, but effective products at home. I work with each client to think long term, reconstruct beauty standards when needed, and build a lasting relationship with them. I pride myself on protecting the skin’s integrity and the body’s overall health.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I am not sure if I believe in luck so this is a difficult question. Once I started following my passion and created my business, things fell into place. I had great teachers and mentors, my location basically found me, and I attract clients that are aligned with my approach to skincare. If this is “luck” then it’s definitely in my favor and I am grateful.
