Meet Peter Johnson of Phat Scooters in Tempe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Peter Johnson.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Peter. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m an Arizona native and earned my BA in Communications from the University of Arizona in Tucson. I have an extensive background consisting of 15-plus years of product production, design and sales. Previously to Phat Scooters, I was President of Eco Aluminum Pallets, a company that made shipping pallets from recycled aluminum, and we did a lot of initial packaging product design for Tesla motors for shipping their batteries overseas.

I also am current President of KoudBlu Technology Solutions, a Bluetooth technology company that specializes in wireless asset tracking. Phat Scooters came about when my business partner purchased a few electric scooters from China because we wanted a fun way to get around without using gas. We noticed several design flaws and realized with our backgrounds and connections, we could design a better product. After about a year of research and testing, we founded Phat Scooters in February 2017.

Has it been a smooth road?
It’s not always easy but we certainly have been having a lot of fun. It started off as a sidebar project, but when we realized the tremendous business opportunity and our passion for the product, I transitioned over to take it on full time. The biggest struggle has been keeping up with our rapid growth.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Phat Scooters is a manufacturer of recreational and commercial Electric Fat Tire Scooters. We also have a division called Phat Golfwith scooters customized for commercial use on golf courses. Our warehouse and corporate office is in Tempe, where we assemble, ship, and inventory the scooters, parts and accessories. What sets us apart from any competitors is our commitment to quality design, customization options, and outstanding customer service. As a company.

I’m proud of the rapid growth we’ve experienced in such a short time. We’ve worked with a lot of big-name companies such as The Chive, William Murray Golf, and Kona Brewing Company to create custom branded scooters for them to use for corporate incentives and fundraisers. While corporate partnerships are great for getting our name out there, we’ve also been able to change the lives of everyday people that need or want an easy way to get around.

What has been the proudest moment of your career so far?
Definitely when we won Golf Digest’s Editor’s Choice Award at the PGA Merchandise Show in January with our Phatty HD Scooter.
