Meet Peter Hernandez of RePete Photography in Glendale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Peter Hernandez.

Peter, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In 2013, I began taking photos as a hobby while earning my bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University which was in Interdisciplinary Arts and Performance.  My wife and I talked for a few years about what it would take to start a photography business.  But in 2019 and after some career changes, we decided to take the plunge and start our own small business.  I am a family-oriented individual, which speaks to our customer base.  Even our company name, RePete, derives from our family.  When my wife and I married, we created a hashtag for our family to follow our wedding activities, RePete, which is a combination of our names:  Re for Regina and Pete for Peter.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As with any new business, it is expected to have bumps in the road.  Since our official opening, RePete Photography has found challenges in standing apart from such a densely populated industry.  In addition to setting ourselves apart, staying up-to-date with equipment trends and software can sometimes be a full-time job in itself.  I always take these struggles and find ways to turn them opportunities.
RePete Photography – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
RePete Photography is a family orientated business and our family is a part of the business every step of the way.  Occasionally, our daughter will assist on photoshoots and my wife provides photo inspiration for our customers who need guidance as well.  I am very proud that my family wants to be involved and feel as though that translates to what sets us apart from the competition and what we do best.  What we do best is have outstanding customer service.  We make our customers feel like family by building rapport with them and making sure that the photo shoot goes very smoothly.  We like to include the customers in the decision-making process so that they get exactly what they want in the experience and photos.  RePete Photography specializes in family, lifestyle, and senior/graduation photos and by being family-orientated, this parlays to our customer base.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success for RePete Photography is having pleased customers who are happy to refer our business to their friends and family.  Hearing that we were able to accurately capture a special time in their lives, whether it is graduation, family photos, or business pictures is the biggest thank you or success that we can be provided.
