Meet Paul Manganaro of Chillfit Cryo in East Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Manganaro.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Paul. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Twenty years ago, I accepted a job working for the local electric utility company here in the valley. It was my first full-time job and I spent my first several years driving forklifts and moving material for the company. There came a time however, when professional growth came to a halt in the area of the company I was working for. Having worked for this company for eight years at the time, I decided to change course and looked for more technical work within the company. Fortunately, my bid to become a technician was successful and I spent the next several years working for great mentors who pushed me to become an expert in my field. All the while I went back to school to finish my undergraduate degree and ultimately my MBA. My last years with the company were spent managing business analytics and supervising teams. The company I worked for has an incredible reputation for being a great employer and a very secure place to work. The decision to leave was the biggest of my life but I had always dreamed of being my own boss so after some very careful planning, I submitted my resignation on the day of my twenty-year anniversary with the company. The date was significant as I closed one chapter of my life and opened another, one of entrepreneurship.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The path I chose was challenging in that I was creating a unique brand in an even more unique industry. Cryotherapy was something I tried as an athlete and loved right away. I started researching client experiences and the scientific history of using cold to heal the mind and body. It didn’t take long before I knew I wanted to be involved with this relatively unknown health and wellness modality. Once I made the decision to open my own Cryotherapy business, the creative juices started flowing and I used my experience in business planning and organization to outline a path to opening our first Cryo Spa. The entire process from idea conception to opening a brick and mortar location in the East Valley took only eight months. This expedited timeline meant that every single day had to be utilized fully in planning for design, architecture, city approvals, signage, software system, advertising, equipment, employees, and training. There were obstacles along the way but you take those in stride and try to minimize the impacts with diligent planning and execution.

Please tell us about Chillfit Cryo.
Chillfit Cryo is the East Valley’s first Cryospa where you can experience several therapies using extreme cold vapor for better health. Our signature Cryobody service is a whole-body three minute exposure to cold vapor at temperatures as low as -265ºF. The invigorating therapy has plenty of benefits as it is frequently used for lowering inflammation, pain relief, healing skin, boosting mood, and weight loss. We also offer a rejuvenating Cryofacial treatment as well as Cryozone treatments for targeting specific areas of the body.
