Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrick Maloney.
Born in Santiago, Chile and educated in Europe, the Santiago native had a Chilean mother and Irish-American father. His father, who was a NASA satellite tracking engineer, was stationed throughout the globe and six months after Dr. Maloney was born, the family relocated to Ecuador, then to Madagascar, then Maryland, USA, back to Santiago, Chile and then to Saudi Arabia. His high school years were spent at Notre Dame International, an all-boys boarding school in Rome, Italy. His college years would bring him to Arizona, but then he moved to Houston, where his father had relocated after returning from overseas. While working on his finance degree at the University of Houston, he was being treated by a Chiropractor for injuries he had suffered as a young child. After graduating Cum Laude from the University of Houston, with a degree in Finance, he stayed in Texas and was recruited by Allied Signal as a financial analyst. After working in corporate America for a short stint, he realized he couldn’t see himself doing it for the rest of his life.
He researched the Chiropractic principles and decided to move to Los Angeles to attend one of the best chiropractic colleges in the U.S., Southern California University of Health Sciences, formerly known as Los Angeles College of Chiropractic. He received his second degree in biology, and then received his Doctorate in Chiropractic, graduating Cum Laude. He then married his college sweetheart and fellow chiropractor, Cacinda Maloney, DC and they relocated to Arizona.
A short time later, Maloney Chiropractic was born in central Phoenix in 1994. With love and commitment to his patients, and sincere concern for their well-being, Dr. Maloney has served over 12,000 patients in the last 24 years and he believes that Chiropractic medicine is an essential healthcare tool for today’s health-conscious consumer.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We have great human and financial resources in this country, yet the United States ranks near the bottom of industrialized nations in a variety of health metrics. This is frustrating to many physicians of all types. There are many factors to blame, but among the top of the list is that our healthcare system has been increasingly focused on treating diseases and their symptoms rather than preventing these. This includes the treatment of musculoskeletal problems, such as low back pain, which drains our system of billions of dollars each year. In the meantime, our population is getting sicker, not healthier. It’s going to take increased interprofessional collaboration across all types of medical providers to deliver the most effective treatments and advice to patients. Ultimately, disease prevention should be a top priority for all doctors. This has not always been the case, but I see a shift happening and I feel very positive about that.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Maloney Chiropractic Clinic – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Our Mission: To help our patients better understand the importance of structural health and its relationship to their overall well-being. To guide our patients to further realize that vitality and healing are the natural order and that the promotion of health is superior to the treatment of disease.
Based on our mission we provide treatment for musculoskeletal conditions such as headache, neck and shoulder pain, back and leg pain, emphasizing a whole-person approach. We do this by teaching our patients about the importance of good posture, flexibility and strength, diet and nutritional supplementation as they relate to physical health and wellbeing. Ultimately my role is to help the patient become self-reliant.
Our mantra is competence, integrity, solutions. It’s been that for over two decades, and those words seem more relevant than ever. We align our recommendations to help the patient reach their needs and goals. We pride ourselves on being a patient-centered practice.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
The future is bright. As more research into anti-aging and regenerative medicine comes to light, we will be expanding our services to include a variety of options that are being provided today by various different types of medical providers. For example, we already provide chiropractic and physical rehab, but we refer many patients to other providers for braces, nutritional products, and medical injectables like stem cell therapy. All of these treatments options are helpful. We are currently modifying our practice by building the infrastructure and hiring the appropriate staff to provide all these services and more in-house. This will allow our practice to provide comprehensive, patient-specific treatments that deal with some of the most pervasive and expensive health problems in the US today, arthritis and musculoskeletal pain.
