Today we’d like to introduce you to Pamela Jayne Sassi.
Pamela, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My name is Pamela Jayne Sassi. I am originally from Milwaukee, WI and for the last 17 years, I have worked in the restaurant business and exotic car sales. Every year I get older, I am more connected and drawn to women’s issues and deal with some of them personally. A little over two years ago I knew if I wanted to create a better life for myself, my family, and make a difference in the world, I would have to start a business. When I thought of what kind of business I could potentially create, I asked myself, “What am I passionate about?” The answer was simple, sleeping, home, colors, prints, and helping my fellow woman. After two years in the making, Jayne launched June 6th, 2019. Within the first three months, Jayne was named a finalist in a QVC brand search, taken part in a Women Empowerment weekend event, and also cut the first check back to the community, The Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I knew nothing about fabrics, sourcing, designing, branding, manufacturing, owning a business, running a business, website, social media, shipping logistics, accounting, marketing, the list just goes on! But I knew that if I were to ever change my life, my family’s life, and the lives of women, I would have no choice but to figure it out. Working a full-time sales job in the car industry, finding the time to be creative and gather knowledge of an industry I knew nothing about, was easily the most difficult.
Please tell us about your business.
Jayne is made for women, made by women, woman-owned and made locally in AZ at F.A.B.R.I.C. in Tempe.
Not only is this the most beautiful and colorful loungewear that you will ever lay your eyes on, but it is also just as comfortable! The fabric is brushed to give it a soft and buttery feel. Every piece is made meticulously to fit women in all the right ways. The chemise hugs you in the waist, cozy on the hips, a little longer in the back, and the racerback keeps you secure and confident. The pants can be worn full length or pinned up as a crop with the use of elastic and a “J” imprinted button on the leg. The 2″ width elastic waistband can be worn high, mid, or low waist. And of course, who doesn’t love pockets? Fall launch will be including shorts, crop tops, v-necks, sets, and some new prints.
There are some beautifully made, women-owned sleepwear companies out there. Some beautiful fabric and prints and all within the same price range. However, ALL of Jayne’s products are colorful, practical, and comfortable. So our extremely beautiful pieces are not just for show and will always be inspiring!
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Jayne is a family name that has been passed down by the strongest women in my family. Jayne Frances Murray, my grandmother, was a Lieutenant nurse in the Navy during WWII, who also raised an amazing family of eight children. So I would have to say my most proud moment so far has to be creating a beautiful product using a family name, which has given me the ability to start giving back to the community.
