Today we’d like to introduce you to Pamela Coleman.
Pamela, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Ms. C’s Home-Style Southern Cooking, “Cooking Real Food for Real People” No Time to Cook? Ms. C’s Home-Style is the solution!!
Our business provides busy families and professionals with healthy home-style online food delivery options. We also offer full-service Catering services, Festivals, Personal Chef services, and Cooking Classes. Started modestly in 2006, cooking in front of local bars and lounges in Phoenix and Avondale.
Many times having to put my grill in the trunk of my Cadillac. As that season ended, my passion for cooking did not go away — the fire inside burns strong today. Ms. C’s Home-Style continues to grow. I had the awesome opportunity to have 2 1/2 years as a Restaurateur in Glendale, Arizona.
A journey that took a necessary detour, sometimes, in business you must hit the reset button in order to move closer to your dream. I then set out to get the knowledge that I was missing. This led me to Hustle PHX, an entrepreneurial resource program. This program was the game changer, the direction of my business began to take flight.
I have been enriched with the skills and resources needed as well as a journey of personal empowerment. As a National Certified Food Manager and a student of Sustainable Food Systems will help develop the business in becoming environmentally conscious.
Before starting Ms. C’s, my honed skills in negotiating in Real Estate as a Broker. My extensive knowledge of personal and business taxes, provide the skill set needed as a business owner. Continuing a career of service, I persistently strive to make a difference in the community by empowering people to be their best.
To balance it all, I enjoy cooking, reading and traveling.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Boy has there been challenges, obstacles, mountains, and brick walls!! But from all of these I got stronger, I became wiser. These are necessary to Keep Going. The biggest challenge, as in a majority of small businesses, is securing enough capital.
The next challenge is in learning and understanding the other parts of business beyond the passion. Building the right team. Getting the right resources and forming relationships that will help you and your business grow
Ms. C’s Home-Style – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Our company is looking redefine Southern Cooking and take it back to its roots!. We bring together farm to table seasonal menu items and healthy versions of Southern favorites. Somethings can’t be changed.
There’s nothing like a hot fried chicken or baked macaroni and cheese!! We provide catering, festival, corporate events, personal chef and cooking classes. We are known for cooking real food for real people, meals that you grow up on, the ones, that made you sit down at the table with family.
I am most proud of the fact that I had enough sense to take a detour in my business path, the vision is clear, the direction set. I know who I am, I know where I’m going. I am bringing forward the gift I am to deliver to the world in my lifetime!! Besides, seriously, there is no one in the Universe like me. A true original!! How Awesome is that!!
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
When you can inspire others to be their best, for me sowing the seeds of business ownership throughout my family, thus changing its course.
To show my example and never quit, keep going!!
