Meet Olivia Khiel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Khiel.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Since I was young, I only wanted to write. After finding my love of entertainment journalism in high school, I attended Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. I spent my time writing music-focused pieces for The State Press and on-air at Blaze Radio with my own show, Blazed by the Bell.

After graduation, my best friend and now business partner proposed the idea of Atlas Artist Group. Just over a year later, we’ve booked shows for some incredible local and national talent in Phoenix and the surrounding areas. David Key runs the booking and management side of the company, and I am the Editor in Chief of our media outlet. We focus on booking stellar independent talent and covering shows for artists that we believe in. Our message is simple- we were created with bands and fans in mind.

This is truly the most exciting and rewarding gig I could ever ask for, and things are only going to get bigger and better from here!

Please tell us about your art.
I’m a writer to my core, and the thing I love most is music. While I’m definitely not musically gifted, writing about and photographing musicians is my way of being close to the thing that I love.

I’m inspired by musicians, writers, and photographers who stand for something. People with a message of hope, growth, or positivity are people that I gravitate toward and try to emulate in my interactions in this business.

I hope that people look at the content and the art that Atlas creates and finds the same joy in it that we do. I hope that they find an unknown artist with an incredible message that resonates with them. I hope to build a community of like-minded and inspiring people who all want to share their messages with the world.

Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
While music and art are wonderful, it takes a minute before they’ll pay the bills — everyone at Atlas supplements their income with outside jobs. My best recommendation is learning time management to maximize the hours you have in a day. I’ll work all day and go to shows and write at night. It can be exhausting, but if you love it, you make it work.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
