Meet NMarie Mansker of Blink Pink Cosmetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to NMarie Mansker.

NMarie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, and was adopted by my great-aunt, a.k.a. “Granny”. My mother was on drugs and wasn’t stable to care for me. As a young girl, I grew up as an outcast in my family, not having my mom or dad around. I remember feeling I wasn’t pretty enough or accepted. I would always drift off by myself, playing with my dolls, creating an imaginary fairy tale of how I’d like to be when I grew up.

Doing so gave me a sense of comfort and was the only outlet I had. I had a strong interest in fashion, hair, and decorating growing up. Later on, as a young adult, I went on to pursue cosmetology and became licensed in 2005. After working as a cosmetologist for a few years, I wanted to complete other career goals I’d set for myself. I’ve now worked in the medical field for many years. I graduated cum laude with my Master of Science degree. With an entrepreneur mindset, I recognized it was time to move towards my purpose of helping, teaching, and inspiring young girls and women around the world.

Blink Pink Cosmetics was founded in 2015. After working on the brand for several years, I was finally able to launch it in January 2019. I wanted to create a brand to bring forth freedom of expression, self-awareness, and self-confidence for all teens and tweens, not limited to young adults. My vision is to create safe and cruelty-free products to ensure that all are accepted and beautiful within their own skin.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It certainly was a challenge creating and starting this brand. With limited resources and funding, it took longer than anticipated. As a single mom, I had to take my time to work on the brand as funding became available. There were many sleepless nights of research, package design, colors choices, ingredient options, and all other customized details. I found myself getting frustrated at times due to not having enough financial support and the time it took me to launch my line. However, one thing I had to remind myself of is that good things come to those who wait. I knew if I continued to strive and push myself, it would come to full fruition exactly how it should. There is so much more to give with this brand, and still being a newly small business, I’m humble as it continues to grow. Keep on the lookout for more to come.

Blink Pink Cosmetics – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Being a licensed cosmetologist, I have a lot of diverse skills. I’m creative with children’s hair and was known for the roller set and twist queen. As an artist, I’m always learning from so many other talented artists. Not limiting myself, I’m perfecting my makeup artistry work.

As a service provider, it’s important to me to provide the best customer service I possibly can. I provide makeup services for dancers, cheerleaders, beauty pageants, fashion shows, & special events. We host birthday parties and pamper parties.

BPC also has a community-based platform to help those in need to discuss various topics. We have so many that are looking for someone to talk to and get advice or just to have support. We want to help eliminate suicide, decrease depression, stop bullying, and to have a safe environment to be free to be who you are. This platform will be through our upcoming blog, speaking at schools, other community events, etc.
