Meet Nitrah Neon of Candlelit Clothing in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nitrah Neon.

Nitrah, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started Candlelit Clothing when I was 17. I thought it would be awesome to be able to make my own shirts since I was learning graphic design and I had been doing photography. It was a lot harder to start than I thought but I think it’s so worth it. After 4 years, it’s finally starting to take off, mostly thanks to vending at Full Moon Festival. I am so excited to keep vending at festivals and seeing where this all goes.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not smooth, finding a quality place to get things printed was hard and also learning how to screen print and then the screen printer not working and staying up til 5 am making shirts was not easy, but luckily I had some amazing friends helping me. Business partners leaving was also a struggle, I do everything within the company on my own. When I moved to LA, I was so poor, I had to close the online shop because I couldn’t pay the fees.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Candlelit Clothing – what should we know?
At Candlelit Clothing we specialize in making unique clothes and accessories for people with an alternative style. We do a lot of graphic tees and crop tops but starting to look into making some different garments.

I am most proud of the company still being here and not giving up on it.

I think what sets us apart from other brands is that no one else really has the same style or items that we have, I hand make all of the accessories by myself so each piece is one of a kind.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I think perseverance is most important to success. Just as long as I keep believing in it and not giving up, it will be successful.
