Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikki Adams.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My passion began the moment I picked up a camera more than a decade ago, but when I decided to turn my passion into a business was when I bought my first DSLR camera in 2013. Ever since my love has grown immensely. Over time I decided to combine my love of portraiture and nature to create beautiful natural photographs. I’ve grown and learned a lot since I pick up my first camera.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I bought my first DSLR, a Canon Rebel t3, on a Black Friday deal for $400. I learned and loved that camera and took it everywhere with me. I didn’t have much money to start out and have truly started from the bottom, 100% self-taught. I never saw myself as struggling but more of a student and trial and error is part of the learning process. Now I can say I’ve happily upgraded because the demand of it was necessary and I’ve seen my product quality soar.
Photo By Nikki – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I’m a photographer who specializes in portraiture photography. I absolutely love the candid moments, sunsets, and adventure. I’m proud to say that people who have hired me in the past always come back when they need it. Making people feel comfortable in front of the camera, it’s scary, but it is important that your client feels like they can be relaxed. It’s almost like a spotlight and people definitely get stage fright. To get the right picture it’s important to let clients know that there is nothing to fear and the best pictures stem from their personality. That only shows when they are truly being themselves.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I personally define success based off of how my clients react to their pictures when they receive them. When they get these pictures it eternalizes memories they are experiencing during or around the time these pictures were taken. They see them and I hope it brings them happiness. That, to me, is success.
