Meet Nicole Perez of Phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Perez.

Hi Nicole, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My personal journey with physical illness and suffering is what delivered me to the hands of Spirit and to the healing path that I am currently walking in my life. By the age of 25 years old I had become very ill and was consumed by physical and emotional pain. I had developed severe endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome, dysmenorrhea, adrenal fatigue, liver and kidney taxation, chronic digestive upset and inflammation, pre-diabetes, chronic sinusitis, hypertension, high cholesterol, asthma, life-threatening allergies, and advanced bone degeneration throughout my entire body that caused debilitating chronic pain. The bottom curvature of my cervical spine had started to bend in the opposite direction, and on the image of an x-ray it looked like I was literally hanging myself. Doctors were baffled by the complexities of my conditions, and told me that it was impossible to reverse this kind of spinal damage. I was prescribed countless medications for these conditions that only caused more side effects to manage. I was filled with incredible anger at myself, at others, at the world, and at God for giving me such a painful and difficult life. I had lost all faith in my healing and recovery, and became completely lost in my own darkness.

One day the pain in my body became so great that it brought me to my knees. Medication was no longer working to manage my symptoms. I knelt on the floor sobbing with my face in my hands, and I kept saying, “God please help me…” I heard a strong, gentle and loving voice say to me, “If you are powerful enough to create this suffering, you are powerful enough to create the healing.” In that moment, time literally stood still. A deep, profound memory awoke in me, and I remembered who I really was and why I was here on this great Earth. It was the single most powerful moment of my entire life. The moment that I pulled myself back up off the floor was the moment when my personal healing journey began. I made a commitment to myself to become my own best friend instead of my worst enemy, and I made a decision to co-create my life with Great Spirit in a way that was rooted in love, kindness, gentleness, forgiveness and in the heartfelt belief that I could turn my life around.

This is how my healing journey began. I developed and nurtured sacred mind, sacred thought, sacred heart and emotion, and a sacred body. I created consistent spiritual practices that helped me to stay grounded in the forces of love and gratitude, and I developed a sacred relationship with myself. I began to heal from the inside out, and I learned that the single most important relationship that we will ever have in this world is the one that we have with ourselves, and also the relationship that we have with Creator. I learned Reiki, shamanic healing, and many other forms of energy healing that me to heal myself and to deepen my relationship with Spirit. The healing of my physical body quickly followed my mental, emotional and spiritual transformations. Within a year I was off of almost all medications, and had healed nearly all of the dis-ease that had plagued my physical body. I repeated scans of my cervical spine a few years later and found that my spine had healed itself perfectly without any medical intervention, it was as if it had never even happened.

My healing journey was not easy, but it has been the greatest teacher on my path and it has served as the catalyst and training ground for my life purpose. I would not change any of the things that I have gone through because each of those experiences has made me the person that I am today. The journey of healing my own body, mind, emotions and spirit has made me a great helper, healer and teacher for others. I have deep empathy and can relate to the suffering of others, and I have a deep passion for helping others to find and awaken their own healer within.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I believe I covered much of this in the previous question. I have experienced a great deal of struggle and challenge with my physical health from the time that I came into this world as a baby. Throughout my life I have had multiple acute and chronic health conditions, and have had nearly 10 surgeries in my life beginning at the age of 2 years old. Learning how to heal many of these conditions is what has taught me the most about healing on my journey, and it is what has inspired me to want to help others to heal and improve their quality of life.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
For the past 15 years I have maintained a full time energy healing practice, Thunderhorse Healing. I’ve been based in Phoenix for 7 years, but began my practice in my hometown of Chicago. I have been trained, certified and initiated into a number of different healing modalities and practices including the following: shamanic healing, Reiki, spiritual counseling, Shamanic Reiki, energy cleansing, house blessing, space clearing, curse removal, sound healing. crystal healing, and tuning fork therapy, and am a certified facilitator for Somatic Breathwork and meditation. I am a Reiki Master Teacher and provide training for Reiki Levels I, II and III (Reiki Master). I have additional training in special applications of Reiki including Oncology Reiki as well as Reiki Phowa (a practice designed to help the soul during the time of transition). I teach an annual Shamanic Healing Apprenticeship training covering topics such as shamanic journeying, soul retrieval, extraction, ancestral healing, energy cleanses, etc. I also facilitate spiritual retreats and maintain my own spiritual study by traveling regularly to the Amazon jungle to continue learning from my indigenous elders and teachers.

In my healing practice I specialize in trauma healing, and in healing the physical issues/illnesses that have resulted from the energies of stored trauma in the body. I help people in healing from experiences of abuse, as well as PTSD, addiction, eating disorders, self-harm and negative self-talk, depression, anxiety, lack of self-worth and self-love, and a dis-regulated nervous system. I also specialize in energy cleanses and in removing different negative energies that a person may be carrying.

As a person who has experienced much suffering on their journey, I have a great deal of empathy and love for the clients that I work with. I believe that creating a container of love and safety is what allows people to truly be able to heal. I am passionate about helping people come home to themselves, redefine their relationship with themselves, and to come into a place of thriving, health and happiness. I have witnessed my own capacity to heal and transform so much suffering in my life, and I believe in the power of each individual person to also do the same. I also believe in making healing work financially accessible, and offer a sliding scale for all services.
