Meet Nico Halog of Rejuicenating in Tempe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nico Halog.

Nico, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Growing up, my mother had me when she was very young, only at sixteen-years-old. She had to work incredibly hard to give me the life I had. I’ve only recently been able to appreciate this so much and know how important it was to have her build a strong foundation for me.

Being the first in my family to go to college, I had a strong sense of what I wanted to accomplish. Originally, I was very interested in health and fitness, which is why I started my college career with nutrition. About a year into my college experience, I realized that although I cared very much about my health, my major wasn’t for me. Looking more into it, and finding out more about what I really wanted to do, I switched majors and went with business information systems, which has allowed me to learn so much about every aspect of business as well as aspects of computer science and programming. I thought this would be a good start, as it allowed me to gain knowledge about the best of both worlds.

During my freshman year, my girlfriend actually started her own non-profit organization, Can You Spare a Story, to fuel her passion for serving individuals struggling with homelessness. She was actually a huge factor that sparked my interest in entrepreneurship, it is so amazing being with someone so inspiring and who you look up to. We worked on building it together, I was interested in the business aspects of it: doing the finances, creating social media content, building the website, and marketing the business. Becoming obsessed with the marketing aspect, it prompted me to add a minor in marketing, further enhancing my educational career. This actually allowed me to land my first marketing internship, where I am currently working in content production and social media marketing.

Everything I’ve experienced so far has been building blocks to my life and have allowed me to gain some sense of perspective. Recently, I used everything that I have learned so far and launched my own juice company, Rejuicenating. It’s green juice with a caffeine boost. As I was struggling to drink both coffee and green juice in the morning, I’ve decided to combine both in a tasty and healthy juice that brings the best of both worlds, nutritional benefits with a caffeine boost. It has allowed me to combine both of my passions, my original passion for nutrition and my current passion in business. In the past few months of building every aspect of the company myself, I realized this is what I love doing. I know that Rejuicenating is going to find huge success in the future and I’m excited about the journey.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been easy. Since I was fifteen, I’ve spent a lot of time working to pay bills and pay my way through college. Trying to maintain a 4,0 GPA and working to pay for college has resulted in little time for me to have for myself. I’ve had to neglect social activities and social life, in general, due to constantly being so caught up with everything. This has resulted in me getting burnt out multiple times at such young ages, which really affected my mental health and my happiness.

I’ve recently been getting better, even though now I am juggling school, a part-time job, an internship, and a new company. I recognize that doing this is essential if I want to become successful. I’ve come to peace with being alone and realize that I need to keep doing what I have to if I want to succeed. I think a big contributor that has allowed me to be where I am is my ability to understand what is important for my long-term happiness instead of my short-term fulfillment. I love the grind, I love the hustle, I love the work, and I love doing what I do every day.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Rejuicenating – what should we know?
My juice company, Rejuicenating, is my current passion project that I believe will be the first of many. Green juice with a caffeine boost, Rejuicenating is juice made from organic fruits and vegetables, that is then blended with green coffee beans for a natural caffeine boost. The juice is fresh, made to order, nutritional, and contains as much caffeine as an 80z cup of black coffee. Rejuicenating is the first caffeinated juice, and I take pride in providing as much value as I can for our consumers. I’ve done everything my self business-wise, I did the strategic development, I make the juice and ship it myself, I spent hours learning how to use Adobe Illustrator to make my logo, I produce all of the content and market the juice, and I built the website. I know that Rejuicenating will find huge success and will help me to pursue other ideas.

I’m also in the process of starting another company with a few partners, empHIGHR. empHIGHR, a creative development studio, will facilitate young entrepreneurs and small business owners to build their own empires. We’ll offer strategic development, design and illustration, paid media and marketing, video, photo, and content production, as well as E-Commerce business development. The way I’ve structured the two companies is that empHIGHR will back Rejuicenating as its first client, facilitating one another in building both consecutively. I just love that I have found my passion in what I do and I know that it will allow me to build my own empire.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I think Tempe is an excellent location, as it is filled with creative minds and hip, innovative people that are willing to try new things. I know my juice is relatively more expensive than others because the ingredients are so fresh and they are organic, but I know a lot of my target audience will be in Tempe as well as Scottsdale and Paradise Valley. I think it is the perfect location for anyone starting a business. When starting out, it is essential to recognize your target audience and the best way to reach them.
