Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Dudzinski.
Nick, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I spent my early twenties in a pretty deep state of depression. I wasn’t taking care of myself physically or mentally. After graduating high school, my physical activity basically stopped and I began spending most of my time either working or partying. That led to severe weight gain, lack of confidence, loss of relationships and an overall decline in my state of wellbeing.
One day, I looked in the mirror and decided that I’d had enough. I began doing basic exercises (pushups, situps, etc.) and walking/running with my dog. Once I started to lose a bit of weight, I started doing the P90X program. That was when I really dove deep into exercise. Over the course of the next few years I progressed through the various P90X programs and levels. I loved that series so much I actually became certified as a P90X instructor, got hired at a local gym and started conducting my own classes for others to try.
During my time at that local gym, I started to look around at some of the more muscular people that were working out there. A sense of natural competition grew inside and fueled a desire to begin adding some size to my physique. I spent a couple of years SLOWLY making progress, moving to different gyms with more equipment and tweaking my workouts to try and maximize my results. At this point, I loved bodybuilding but never really had any concrete goals other than improvement. However, the more I grew, the more people would ask me if I had ever considered competing. After being asked several times, I decided to give it a try. I hired a local coach, put in weeks of hard work, tracked my nutrition and competed in an NPC Natural show in the Men’s Physique division. Although I was proud of what I had accomplished, I didn’t place very well in the show itself. I decided that I definitely wanted to get back on stage, but I needed to put in some more time and really get myself ready.
In 2018, I moved from Des Moines, IA to Phoenix where I currently reside. I hired a new coach (check him out @marsellzaborek on Instagram) who is helping me take my physique to a level I never thought I would achieve. I am working out harder than ever before, fueling my body with more nutrient-dense foods and completely transforming my physique. It’s been a long road; there have been ups and downs, successes and failures, but I am finally at a place where I am no longer looking back at where I was. My eyes are set completely on the future and I couldn’t be more excited about what is yet to come.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My road has been anything but smooth! My entire “fitness journey” began with me finding my way out of a deep depression. That alone was an intense challenge. However, throughout the years that I have been transforming my body/mind, there has still been tons of struggles that I’ve had to overcome.
Lack of motivation, pain/injuries, feel inferior or inadequate in bodybuilding settings, the ups and downs that come with trying to stick to eating clean, losing friendships because I no longer want to party or go out to eat every night. These are all things that myself and many others like me go through.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Nick Dudzinski Training – what should we know?
I think what sets me apart most is my experience. For people who have no clue what they are doing, I’ve been there. People suffering from lack of confidence, lethargy or depression, I know how that feels. I haven’t always looked the way I do, but I am a walking testament of what hard work, discipline and improving your mindset can do. I have changed the way I look, feel and live my every day life and I’ve done it for others as well.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I think the most important quality to ANYONE’S success is the ability to be comfortable with discomfort. Working out is hard. Eating a healthy, balanced diet is even harder. Saying no to friends, family, co-workers, etc. who are actively impeding your success may be the hardest thing. If you can manage to see your way through all of that and find that voice inside telling you to keep moving forward, there is very little you can’t accomplish.
