Meet Nichole Sherman Green of Mermaid Salon & Boutique in Chandler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nichole Sherman Green.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Nichole. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My dream of becoming a business owner and hairstylist started when I was in high school. Looking for a way to express creativity, have freedom and enjoy life, I found my passion in the beauty industry.

I went to cosmetology school, got my license and immediately started working in a beautiful full-service salon as their makeup artist and hairstylist.

Years passed, and as they did my dream of opening my own studio salon grew. A place where I no longer answered to the owner of the salon, but to my wonderful guests who sat in my chair. Somewhere that had more flexibility, unique and overall relaxing experience. After partnering with a close friend, Faith Gray, Mermaid Salon and Boutique was born!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Every road to growth has it challenges, mine was no different. Opening any business is definitely stressful and maybe just a little terrifying at the same time. While it was hard when things did not go as planned, I learned from those setbacks.

One of my largest setbacks actually was myself. Afraid to go out on my own, it took some encouragement and support from those close to me. That gave me the confidence to push forward and begin my journey of opening my own studio salon.

Every day I am so proud of what Mermaid Salon and Boutique has become and will become! We are proud to announce we are expanding into a larger studio.

Mermaid Salon & Boutique – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Mermaid Salon and Boutique is a place guests can come and relax, enjoy music, be creative, experience new things and walk out feeling more confident and refreshed.

We are a full-service salon specializing in: hair color, creative vivid hair coloring, haircutting, hairstyling, bridal makeup and hairstyling, Brazilian blow outs and various hair extension techniques that include hand tied extensions.

We proudly use Goldwell Hair Color, Calura Hair Color, Pravana Vivid’s and Pulp Riot Vivid hair color, ELEVEN Australia Hair Care and SEVEN Hair Care products.

In a city with so many amazing artists, I would like to think we are known for valuing the integrity of our guests hair, never pushing the hair beyond the limit, and leaving the hair in the healthiest state possible.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Some of my proudest moments during my career have been making women feel beautiful. I get to do this on a daily basis. However, there has been a few times while doing hair extensions that have left both myself and my guest with such happiness and pride. After the service is over, they get the moment that forever changes them. Giving them the confidence and self-pride they did not have before.
