Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley M Jones.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started my non-profit in 2018 but I had the idea of the name “Next Generation Youth” since 2014 I wanted to help young people but I didn’t know exactly what for it was something I knew I was called to do in my heart but I was just waiting for God to lead me in the right direction. I completed a music project called Next Generation in the summer of 2016 and at the time because I thought maybe it was my calling in music where I should use this name but it didn’t go as planned I wasn’t discouraged because I had a feeling one day I would still use it so fast forward two years later it just hit me one day that I should start a non-profit so I decided to take the leap and invested in myself while I was in college full time and yet there was still a little fear of failure or more so where do I start or am I really gonna be able to do this so instead of facing it dead on I decided to focus on school. In 2020 it just all clicked my family and my husband encouraged me to launch my first ever project called the COVID-19 Project. We were able to raise almost $2,000 crowdfunding in less than two months.
Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Some of my struggles along the way was finding my balance between going to school full time, doing music, and wanting help others.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
My non-profit organization specializes in helping and serving others through donations. We’re known for community outreach, prison outreach, helping families, arts, education, health, and we plan on building schools and hospitals. What I’m most proud of as a foundation is that in less than two months of launching our first project, the COVID-19 project. During the pandemic, my foundation was the first in Kasangulu to do charity and make an impact on their community. We were also able to renew and repair a basketball court in the village with the money that was raised. What sets Next Generation Youth apart from others is that we’re international, diverse, and we’ve been able to do so much with so little compared to those with more money in so little time on a limited budget so I’m extremely proud of that and can’t wait to see what we’ll do with more as we expand and grow.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, I think it’s a great place to start a non-profit or business it’s a city with many people and opportunities.
