Thanks for sharing your story with us Navarro. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
I’m just a guy from East Oakland, California that moved to Los Angeles and discovered a passion and acumen for business. I was blessed to create a string of small businesses who were all successful in their own right and continue to learn and grow as an entrepreneur each day.
Has it been a smooth road?
No, it has not always been a smooth road. When I started my first official business, called Education Exchange, I thought I knew everything about business but I really knew nothing. I had a wonderful idea. We would partner with other countries to bring the brightest students to the United States to complete masters or bachelors degrees programs and return to their country of origin.
We got investors, and things were going exceptionally well until they weren’t. Because of my lack of experience and business expertise, there were hiccups along the way that hit the business hard forcing me to sell the business back to the investors.
Unfortunately, I had to hop back in the rat race and find a job just to make ends meet. Fueled by my passion for entrepreneurship and will to help others, I started another company providing organic meal delivery services to primarily cancer patients in the valley.
After three successful years, I found myself facing a messy divorce that led me to sell that company to my business partner and walks away. The culmination of these struggles and learning experiences led me to start The Palto, my new meal plan, and delivery service, and refocus, my digital marketing firm, Embolden Group.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into The Palto and Embolden Group story. Tell us more about the business.
First and foremost, I’m known for being a serial entrepreneur. My mother taught me the value of starting my own business and bred me to be an entrepreneur by having me wear suits and draw up business plans as early as six years old. By the age of seven, I was selling incense to my neighbors and making enough money to buy tons of snacks for me and my friends after school. That experience taught me how to purchase raw materials and resell them to make a profit. And from then on I was hooked.
Over the years, I became business savvy learning how to market companies from an owners perspective, as well as, a consumers perspective which led me to start my digital marketing and business consulting firm, Embolden group. Embolden Group helps small to mid-size companies grow and compete in a competitive market. Because of my passion for nutrition and helping others live a healthy lifestyle, I’ve created the Palto. As a meal plan and organic meal delivery service, The Palto makes living a healthy lifestyle easy for everyone.
We teach people about proper dieting, proper nutrition, different diets and the adverse effects they might have so that our clients can have an unbiased opinion and choose a diet that best suits their needs. We believe nutrition is the cornerstone upon which a healthy lifestyle is built. Our meal delivery service provides foods that are organic and locally sourced when possible and animal protein that is organic or grass-fed containing no hormones or antibiotics.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success by the number of people that I serve. At The Palto, we define success by our clients losing weight and living a happy and healthy lifestyle. At Embolden, the criteria for success is metrics driven– based off of unique business needs.
