Meet Natalie Waddell of Fortunat Fitness & Nutrition in Chandler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Waddell.

Natalie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Fitness has been a part of my life from a very young age. Growing up, I was an athlete; I played volleyball, basketball, and softball. I went on to play volleyball in college and continued my fitness journey as well. I started doing CrossFit after I had my 3rd child about six years ago. I needed that competitive feeling back in my life. After about four years of CrossFit and a few injuries, I knew I needed a break. I started building a gym in my garage. It was easy for me to work out even when I only had a short amount of time with it being in my garage. My friends started asking if I would train them in my garage gym. It was so fun for me because I love working out, I had a gym right outside my door, and I could help some of my closest friends!

This leads me to where I am today! Too many friends and not enough space I am now training out of a brand new facility VYDL Performance. I work with all types of people, men, women, and young athletes all looking to take their lives to the next level, whatever that may be.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I would say it’s been a pretty smooth road. Business always has it’s ups and downs and takes time to build. I’ve learned so much along the way. I would always fear what others would think of me and worried about making others happy. The most important thing I’ve learned is to focus on what makes ME happy!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Fortunat Fitness & Nutrition story. Tell us more about the business.
I work with all types of people. I have normal moms and dads, and then I work with young athletes. I absolutely love working with the athletes. It makes me happy to see these young kids come in and put in that extra work to make themselves the best they can be. I am most proud of where I started and where I am now. I’d say I’m known for tough workouts and great glute workouts What sets me apart from others is the facility where I train, the vibe, our team, state of the art equipment and athletes. 100% we will make our name known!

We always love to ask about the support network – have there been people, perhaps mentors or advisors, who have played a big role in your success?
Yes! I have to say one of my biggest mentors is Rube Oliver from Elite U in Scottsdale. I have personally trained with him for about a year and a half. He’s taught me so much about training athletes. He’s big on new innovative ways to train speed, agility, and performance for high-level athletes. It’s been amazing to learn from him.

Adam and Erika Snyder, the owners of VYDL Performance. I am so lucky to have them, and for them wanting me to be a big part of VYDL, it is going to be EPIC!

Also, James Patrick and Kelly Patrick for being some of the best business coaches ever and pushing me to get out of my comfort zone. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them!
