Meet Moriah Boone

Today we’d like to introduce you to Moriah Boone.

Moriah, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I was seventeen years old, I auditioned for an acting and modeling agency called “AMTC”…or Actors, Models, and Talent for Christ (my parents were VERY religious). It was my first audition ever and I was a nervous wreck! It didn’t help that my parents were only permitting me to audition in hopes that I would “get it out my system”. After all, a modeling and acting career wasn’t necessarily the most promising prospect for their teenage daughter. Anyway, I gave it my best shot and waited for a callback. Well, two days went by and I was crestfallen to say the least. My parents, however, were thrilled. Maybe not getting a callback is all it would take for their daughter to move on to another, more practical, dream. Then, the phone rang. I had my first callback.

Long story short, my parents were still very much opposed to the idea so I waited. I waited until my eighteenth birthday (which, thankfully, was right around the corner) and accepted the callback in secret. I’ve been modeling and acting ever since.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth road by any means! My parents were just the first obstacle. For starters, time and money are always a little tight when you’re “gigging for a living” and you hear the word “no” more than you ever expected to hear it in your entire lifetime! I’m also only 5’7″, so I’m an entire inch shorter than the MINIMUM height requirement that the modeling agencies require. I can tell you that it’s definitely not for the faint of heart and I’ll admit I’ve walked away from the industry a couple of times out pure frustration… but when you are in the midst of making art, everything else seems to matter a little less.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I only recently started building my brand and although modeling is my first love, acting is a close second! If I had to guess what I am really “known” for, it would be my classic look. I’m also known for my red hair and ever-present red lipstick!

What were you like growing up?
I was always very strong-willed. If I wanted to do something, no one could deter me from doing it. I suppose that’s the Aries in me, although I didn’t know it at the time! In the household I grew up in, there was absolutely no shortage of rules and I struggled to find my place in the family unit. I was the only adopted child in my family and was inherently different than my siblings. I loved art, languages, and dancing whereas my siblings preferred math and science. I was the wild child. Unregimented and unhindered, I got in trouble a lot. Looking back, I’m thankful that I never lost that spark no matter how ostracized I felt because it made me who I am today.
