Meet Morgan Akine of Morgan Joy Fit in Mesa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Akine.

Morgan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In 2017, I was at my lowest weight of 104lbs and was so underweight that when I flew to London for vacation my body completely malfunctioned and I was constantly sick. It wasn’t until a few months later that I saw how ill I really was in a photo at a friend’s wedding. It was clear that I was unintentionally starving myself.

Several months later, a stranger reached out to me on Instagram, inviting me to learn about becoming a Wellness Coach, despite my still poor condition I accepted and was immediately excited at my new found health and fitness accountability! As I saw my health improve, I absolutely fell in love with how my body was transforming and I started to help other people see improvements in their own health too! Since then, I have helped countless clients find a sustainable, long term solution to their health and fitness. This is not a crash diet; this is not a 21 days to drop 10lbs and then gain it back in a month’s time style program. This is something I have done sustainably for almost three years and I’ve taught all of my client’s the same simple steps that changed my life with at-home workouts, simplified nutrition based on the macro system, and friendly and encouraging accountability.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Definitely not a smooth road. Two months into my fitness journey I got involved in a severe car accident, our car flipped almost three full times. Already having severe scoliosis (a curvature of the spine), the car accident made it so much worst in a matter of seconds. On top of that, I also had a severe concussion, a stutter, and could no longer exercise according to a doctor’s recommendation.

Instead of listening to those instructions, I took a week or two to recover and started to use the workout programs that I provide my clients with to start recovering. It took doing yoga for 2.5 months before I was able to lift weights again, but once I started to lift not only did I make a full recovery, I improved my scoliosis curve and therefore my spine health. For the first time in my life, I was going months without regular scoliosis pain.

Please tell us more about your work. What do you do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
I specialize in helping people get healthy from home in a sustainable way. Honestly, the biggest thing that sets me apart from everyone else is that this is a sustainable solution. I’ve tried several diets, and all of them have failed because they were DIETS they were the same things on repeat for way too long and it got BORING. I am so proud of how sustainable this is and that it’s the full solution. It means you can quit gyms and workout with so many different workout styles, so you don’t plateau in your results!

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Honestly, just growing in the workout styles that are available for clients so that everything is available for you. This year alone, a barre program has already been added and a boxing program is just getting ready to be launched so no matter your preference you can experience the “big ticket” workouts without a big-ticket price.
