Today we’d like to introduce you to Monike Alvarez.
Monike, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I grew up in the sales business. My mother and stepfather are both real estate agents and my father is a director at a car dealership. I spent my childhood accompanying my mother showing houses and learning how to meet the needs of different families. Spending late nights at the dealership with my father seeing him working numbers and helping people get into the right car. Two different parts of the sale industry, but both aimed at the same thing. I started out as a transaction coordinator for my parents right out of high school. I handled all of their transactions and business marketing. All the while, I was attending Estrella Community College in which I enjoyed but eventually dropped out and started attending West Ford College Real Estate School.
I have been a licensed agent now for the past six years. I do feel that having been raised in this business has given me an advantage. I know the market and Maricopa County extremely well which is important when helping families find their dream home in their desired area. I have built my business 100% on referrals from current and past clients. I do my best to provide the best service possible. Making sure my clients feel comfortable and well informed throughout their home buying or selling process. I am always available to answer all their questions during as well as after they have purchased or sold their home. Purchasing a home is one of the smartest and biggest investments that you could make, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be able to help as my family as I can.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
In real estate, it’s never a smooth road. You constantly have to be on your game. My first year was difficult. There were many times where I contemplated giving up and go back to a 9 to 5 job. Without a steady every two weeks paycheck to depend on. Making ends meet was becoming harder and harder. I had to move back in with my parents for a time at age 25. Not my proudest moment but extremely blessed to have parents that support and motivate me.
Please tell us more about your work. What do you do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
My brokerage is called AZ & Associates Real Estate Group and I am part of The Luna Team. We are not your traditional brokerage. We pride ourselves on doing things differently from the way we market ourselves, to how we treat our clients. I help families and investors get into the property that they need. I mostly specialize in resale of homes but also help with a new build. I take great pleasure in what I do. Each family I have helped has either become a friend or we have stayed in touch throughout the years, A past client of mine started calling me Little Miss Realtor because of my height. I liked it so much that I started using it on social media and that is what I go by now. I think what sets me apart is that is that every transaction becomes personal to me. I want to make sure that you are getting the right home for the right price. Selling your home for top dollar. I feel a sense of pride when I am able to dealer keys to a happy client.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I have so many great mentors. First off my parents, my mother Imelda and stepfather Guillermo for showing me how to be the best real estate agent I can. They push and encourage me to do better. Always sharing new tricks of the trade. My father Ernesto, he is one of the hardest working person I know. His dedication to always striving for perfection in any position that he is in. Has influenced me tremendously. Lastly, my team leader Ruben Luna. He is a great mentor and teacher. I have learned so much from being on his team. Always pushing and giving me all the tools I could possibly need to be successful. Calling my out when I need it. The greatest lesson they have all giving me is too simple conduction my business with honesty and integrity.
