Meet Monica Medina of Lashes by Monica in Goodyear

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monica Medina.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Monica. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I graduated high school early with the ambition to become a cosmetologist. At 20 years of age, I finally became licensed and did hair for two years. Within those two years, I dabbled a bit in eyelash extensions but it wasn’t until I took a course in the summer of 2013 that I took a real passion for it. I now have 6 + years of experience doing classic and hybrid eyelash extensions.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of my biggest struggles is more of a personal challenge. I have had social anxiety for as long as I can remember, so stepping out of my shell was absolutely necessary for me to succeed. It’s something I still struggle with today but all my clients are very strong individuals and I feel that they have given me a lot of encouragement and strength I will carry for the rest of my life.

Lashes by Monica – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I specialize in eyelash extensions! I am so proud that my clients love my work and they tell all their friends and family about me which has helped tremendously with putting my name out there. I like to take my time for each client and customize their lashes based on their everyday makeup, eye shape, and face shape.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I recently had a client who had survived abuse from a loved one and had her whole life changed. She’s been in Arizona a couple of years just starting over, her and her children. The night I had put her first set of eyelash extensions, she texts me saying thank you for helping her feel beautiful and giving her more confidence in herself and that hit me. What I do enhances your natural beauty, and I’m so happy I get to help people in some small way boosting their self-esteem.
