Meet Mikyla Marie Manu of Ink & Press Co. in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mikyla Marie Manu.

Mikyla Marie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started Ink & Press Co. after designing my own wedding invitations. I fell in love with the creative process and the wedding industry. People thought I was crazy for starting a business while I was still engaged, but it was the best thing I could have done! I was able to create a lot of great connections with fellow wedding vendors. Establishing strong relationships within the industry helped me grow to where I am today.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There have definitely been ups and downs along the way! The biggest thing I have struggled with is feeling like my work is never good enough. I am sure many creatives can relate to this, haha! During these times, I have learned to give myself grace and even celebrate this feeling. The feeling of never being good enough is what can drive you to truly excel at your art. Even great artists, like Picasso, were rarely satisfied with their work. But it was that feeling that enabled them to push creative boundaries. You can choose to let this feeling aid you to give up or be a driving force to excel – I’ve chosen to do that later.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Ink & Press Co. – what should we know?
Ink & Press Co. is a fine art calligraphy and design studio specializing in luxury wedding invitations. The handmade process and materials I use are what truly set my business apart from big box invitation corporations. Because Ink & Press Co. is a boutique design studio, there truly are no limitations to what we can create!

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Early on in my business, I developed a strong friendship with Rachael Mayo of Rachael Ellen Events. Having a friend who was established in the wedding industry was a game changer. Rachael gave me opportunities to grow as an artist and designer. She believed in my potential early on even when I made mistakes and learned from those mistakes.
