Meet Michelle Mondragon of Michelle’s Traveling Massage

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Mondragon.

Hi Michelle, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I like to think I was born blessed, born and raised in Arizona, fourth generation.  My path has been heavily influenced by my environment and family.  Name any Sedona workshop or retreat for the healing arts in the 80’s and 90’s, someone from my family was likely there!  I owe my father and grandmother credit for giving me a foundation of awareness around health and wellness early on.  Admittedly when I was young, I didn’t always appreciate the value of this and indeed took it for granted.

However, what we resist often persists!  With a little more time on the planet, and as a young mother of three, I came to see how much is really working against us in terms of individual peace or optimizing and maintaining some version of a healthy balanced life.  Since 2001 massage therapy has become the answer for me to provide for my family, be more present for them, and one human at a time, offer peace and relief from the outside world.

In the last 22 years, I’ve had the good fortune to gain experience working in some of the most beautiful and prestigious spas in Arizona, as well as other areas of the healing arts industry.  Although I always maintained a handful of clients that I would travel to, it was in the summer of 2016 that I made the leap and committed to building my own practice.  I began to dream what an ideal day would be like and started to reverse engineer what I would need to do to accomplish it.  It took time to focus my niche and my business name went through a few iterations.  Stepping into the entrepreneur role came with tons of invaluable personal and professional growth opportunities.

Eventually, I learned that oftentimes the best solution to any issue, is often the simplest.  Keep it simple!  With the help and support of devoted clients, friends and other like minded professionals, Michelle’s Traveling Massage has really thrived.  This has been my humble contribution, a business I am proud of and that has brought me years of fulfillment, connecting with and serving so many wonderful individuals and families.

Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’d say the biggest challenge for me was getting over the notion that I could be everything to everyone.  Silly, I know, but for a long time I was totally devoted to pleasing people.  Burnout is real!  As soon as I allowed myself some clear and reasonable parameters in what I offer the outside world, and most importantly made my own needs a priority here and there…life just started feeling more manageable.  Now I schedule myself a week off every three months or so, just to rest and recalibrate.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Michelle’s Traveling Massage was built by word of mouth and has become a trusted source for professional, reliable service and expertise.  It is a great privilege to be invited to work with families and individuals in their homes.  Over the years, I have gained a wide variety of modalities to address my clients’ needs, from stress relief and maintenance to post-surgery support and recovery.  I love deep restorative sessions, working with the belly and recently added manual lymphatic drainage therapy to my menu.  My mobile massage service meets you where you are.  No need to fight traffic or the stresses of the outside world after a fantastic therapeutic session.  I travel most of the Valley, including Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Cave Creek, Phoenix, Mesa and Tempe.  I love meeting new people and alway make room for new clients.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check?
There was a time when I was on a Tony Robbins kick; listening to his speeches on YouTube helped me to level up my confidence.  Also, I love Joe Dispenza’s book, “Becoming Supernatural”, he talks about “heart coherence” expanding what we understand about our perceived limitations.  His meditations are amazing.  Since time is our most precious and finite resource.  Rather than tuning into another stimulating and thought provoking podcast, I’d like to recommend carving out a little slice of peace by using the  “do not disturb” feature on our phones.  No pings or dings simulating urgency on your time.  Try using it for a few hours a day or even a full day out of the week and do something just for yourself, just with yourself.  Peace.
