Meet Michael and Susan Perlman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael and Susan Perlman.

Michael and Susan, before we jump into specific questions about the company, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We were corporate refugees. Together, we have decades of experience in marketing and sales operations in healthcare, real estate, and school fundraising. We were looking for a change that allowed us to work together, fuel our passion for dogs, and be active participants in our community. As the premier dog daycare, boarding and spa franchise, Dogtopia checked all of the boxes for us. The Dogtopia mission is to enhance the joy of dog parenthood and help dogs to positively change our world; we hear from pet parents nearly every day how much better their relationship is with their dog after just a short time in our daycare – it’s incredibly satisfying.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a business is never completely smooth and we have had our share of struggles along the way – none of which has taken away from our mission to help create better canine citizens. Besides, how can you have a bad day when you can walk into a playroom and be greeted by wagging tails and kisses.

Tell us about your company. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others?
We are a 6,000 sq. ft. dog daycare, boarding, and spa facility in Chandler. We have an amazing facility that has rubberized flooring for the pups, individual HVAC systems that kill all the airborne allergens, and three large playrooms where the dogs are all separated by size and play style. Our facility is always amazingly clean and fresh smelling and, most importantly, our incredible staff is passionate about the care and safety of the dogs. We are known for our full transparency which includes live webcams for pet parents to watch their dogs in play and individualized care for each pup who plays with us.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We are really excited to announce that we will be adding an outdoor play area for our pups. We hope to have the construction completed and ready for pups in the first quarter of 2020. We also plan on continuing to grow our base of awesome pups in 2020!
