Meet Michael Barro of Sacred Pi Love + Pizza in South Tempe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Barro.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Michael. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Growing up in the Barro’s family, I have always been around and loved pizza. Respected the craft, the hard work and enjoyed the camaraderie that both sides of the table have brought. Large Italian family… always laughing, arguing, joking, smiling, drinking and eating. Old stories and new friends, that in a nutshell, is the atmosphere embodied in Sacred Pi. Our staff is by far the friendliest and hardest working group of people that I have ever had the honor of working with and you will be able to feel it the second you step through the front door. And when you do, you will be immediately transported to a place very familiar… yet you can’t put your finger on when you’ve been there before, where it was and why it been so long. But before, you will be able to fully slip into your reminiscent contemplation and that warm satin tingle of comfort that surrounds us when we feel “home”, the smell of our “Pecan Powered” Renato brick oven will bring you right back to the reason you are here!

THE FOOD AND DRINK!

After being greeted by one of our wonderful young servers, Erick or Curran behind the bar and a wave from Owner Michael Angelo Barro from in front of the oven you can relax. Cocktails are fresher than your favorite bar with Agave, Prescott lavender, and Prescott honey to make our sweeteners. Always hand squeezed juice will have you taste the difference. Guaranteed most drinkable selection of local, craft and your favorite beers. Small batch wines produced with unquestioned quality will leave you happily speechless. Lastly the food! Everything that is made in-house without a single microwave or freezer. From scratch Pitas, organic salads, tapas, oven fried pasta, homemade soup and a wide variety of vegan and gluten-free options. I dare you to try to find something you don’t enjoy. Finally the pizza!!! You may say our pizza has a similar characteristic to your all-time favorite pie and you may wonder why. Well, Michael Angelo Barro has literally traveled coast to coast (San Fan to Staten Island) learning from masters in the art of pizza. Then, Naples and back in search of old country pizza knowledge. Back in his home state of Arizona, Barro opened an artisan pizza joint on September 22, 2017, and has incorporated the highlights from all styles (Cali, NY, Detroit, Napolitano and Arizona style) into the ultimate melting pot of pies. Scared Pi Love + Pizza is named for all of the reasons mentioned above… CCCAAAAANNNNNNN YYYOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUU DDIIIIIGGGGGGGGG IIIITTTTTT!!!!

Has it been a smooth road?
If you dont love the struggle, get out of the kitchen!

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Phoenix is the city where I was born. Moon Valley in my younger years. Cave Creek/Carefree raised me. Tempe was where I called home for college while working in Mesa and Chandler. Bought my first house in Glendale. Ran my fathers restaurants in Scottsdale. I am in Phoenix, Arizona. I Love Phoenix, Arizona. There is no part of this city that doesn’t have my blood sweat or tears.
