Today we’d like to introduce you to Mesia Rena.

Hi Mesia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Mother, Wife, & Girl Boss I was Born and raised in Birmingham, AL I dedicated years of working in Corporate America until I was laid off in 2013 after working for a company for 11 years. I was out of work unexpectedly and vowed to never be put in a predicament like that again. So I stepped out on faith, used my last paycheck that was $700 & invested in my 1st business in Body Shapewear for women out of the comfort of my home. This business set the foundation for me to open more businesses in the beauty, health and financial industries. In January of 2018 a dear friend introduced me to the non-invasive body Contouring Industry and laser hair removal. At that time I had given up on all of my businesses because on 12/24/2017 we lost our daughter and depression had taken over me at that time. But even though I didn’t want to I registered for school and became a certified laser technician and body Contouring Technician/Instructor.

In December of 2018, My husband and I decided to leave Alabama and moved to Arizona for a new beginning after losing our daughter. We only knew two people no family or friends just us. Our plan was to move to Phoenix, AZ and launch my spa and his catering business. But two months after moving we found out we were expecting our Rainbow 🌈 baby, so both of our plans were paused. I gave birth to a healthy baby boy in 2019. After having a child a woman body changes drastically, and a lot of moms would love to have their pre pregnancy body back. Having a newborn and working out is a hard task, and a lot of women can’t afford cosmetic surgery. So I saw a need for alternative ways to achieve that surgery look without surgery, no exercising, no special diet, and its safe and painless. November 2019, I launched Ibeauty Wellness Body Shaping in Tempe AZ, with zero clients on the books, and less than $1000 in my checking account. Another Faith move. Now we are one of the top premier body Contouring spas in Tempe, AZ. Allowing men and women achieve their weight loss and body Contouring goals safe, affordable, and pain free. I just recently became a Certified success coach, helping other future, current business owners start or grow their current businesses. Or just be their support during their challenging journey because this entrepreneurial lifestyle can be an emotional rollercoaster at times, but it’s good to have an accountability partner with you as well. My motto is let’s Thrive & Survive.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely, has not been a smooth road. I opened November of 2019 with zero clients and about $400. Our first month of business we made about $1900 and gained ten clients. I was wondering if I had made the right decision. Start doubting if maybe Arizona wasn’t ready for non-surgical body sculpting services. But I kept my faith even though it was small as a mustard seed. I held on. Printed some flyers and hit the ground running literally. I would strap my four month old son on me and go to the parks passing out flyers to all the moms, place flyers on cars etc. By during that I was able to actually talk to potential clients in person explaining what we offered. Through word of mouth and flyers. Our calendars became booked by February 2020. But then the pandemic hit and we had to shut down for a month. A major setback, because Ibeauty Wellness and body shaping was my main source of income. Without clients, no income. But our business survived due to my quick thinking of offering retail products they all could use at home. Once the shutdown ended, we back up and running with even more clients, that we had to find a bigger location in July. And this spring our plans are to open a second location in phoenix.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I feel like my humbleness, and down to earth characteristics plays a major part in my success. In the weight loss industry most people are sensitive and afraid of being judge. But when my clients walk through our doors, we make them feel relaxed, comfortable, and judge free zone. I joke a lot that we make them feel too comfortable because some never want to leave us lol.
