Meet Mercedes Glendon of Luna Glow

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mercedes Glendon.

Mercedes, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Like a lot of small businesses, now I started Luna Glow Co. during Covid of 2020. It started as a hobby playing around with resin and then it turned into a full-on jewelry business. Luna Glow Co. is growing daily and constantly adding new products like gold and silver jewelry, manifestation and gratitude journals, manifestation apparel, and much more. We are in the process of creating a sister company called Manifest + Glow, where we will be selling Manifestation Planners solely created by me, courses,1 on 1 coaching, and much more exciting things!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I don’t think being an entrepreneur is ever a smooth road, especially when you’re a solopreneur. Learning how to create a website, marketing plan, social media content, email marketing, logistics, and the list goes on and on and on. Everything was a struggle at first and I still struggle as my business grows. Thank God I have my fiancé who helps me pack and deliver the orders while I’m at my full-time job as an esthetician at Melt by Melissa.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I was born a creative! I have a pretty fun and lengthy background. I went to The Academy of Art University in San Francisco, majoring in Fashion Design. I decided Fashion design was not for me, so I moved to Los Angeles, CA, where I went to The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandise, where I received my Associates in Visual Communication. I decided this wasn’t enough for me and so I moved back home to San Diego, CA, and went to The Art Institute, where I received my Bachelors in Fashion Marketing and Management. I worked as a Personal Stylist for four years at Nordstrom and Bloomingdales in Public Relations. BUT WAIT, this still wasn’t enough for me and I wasn’t feeling fulfilled so I decided to go back to Esthetics school and became a Licensed Esthetician and now I’m working at Melt by Melissa at The Fred and loving it while I still build my own business and brand.

I’m so proud of all my accomplishments and NEVER giving up. I finished EVERYTHING I started and I’m a firm believer in that because of my mom. She would never let me quit sports when it got too hard she always told me, “you finish what you start. I don’t raise quitters,” LOL. My mother is the one who created who I am today and I’m so thankful for all her love and her tough love!

I think what sets me apart from others is the belief I have in myself. I believe I can do anything in this world. Whatever I set my mind to will get done no matter what. I don’t have any small thoughts. My dreams are HUGE AND OUTRAGEOUS for most people but for me, it’s normal. I don’t care what others think, and many people truly care about what others say or think about them, but no one will ever get in my way.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories before my dad passed was him at all of my soccer games and cheer competitions. He was my biggest cheerleader and I ish he could see me now but I know he’s always watching and protecting me.
