Hi Mellanie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Prior to Covid, I was investing in real estate and my partner owned a fitness studio. Covid changed those industries considerably. We began looking for something new that we could do together. We originally thought we would buy an existing business and breath fresh life into it. However, there wasn’t much for sale at that time. We came across a franchise recruiter who started sending us all types of franchise opportunities. We liked the idea of following a proven process and having the support of the franchisor. Spray-Net quickly became our primary focus. We liked the idea that we could give kitchen cabinets and exterior of homes a factory like finish, that was environmentally friendly, reducing materials being sent to the landfill. We didn’t have any experience in the coatings industry and that proved to be a bit of a learning curve for us. Thankfully we have great coaches and a lot of determination.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been bumpy. We’ve had our share of ups and downs. Hiring and retaining good team members continues to be a struggle. If you know of a hard worker who is reliable, send them our way. We have found out that shipping isn’t as easy as Amazon makes it seem. We often have smashed containers of products and delays in shipping that have us biting our nails. We also feel like we still struggle to find the right marketing channels for our product/service. We don’t just offer a paint, so comparing us to a painter isn’t apples to apples. We offer surface specific coatings with a purpose. We’re still learning how to educating the consumers as to why this is important.

What should we know? We have a customized paint per surface. We can adjust our paint to different weather conditions and have a 15 year warranty and 3 patents.

What do you do, what do you specialize in / what are you known for? We are a superior paint company that sprays all our application using modern science and technology to apply our products most efficiently on your homes to give a like new look and a 15 year warranty.

We really enjoy working with others. We are always looking for contractors to refer. We get asked for referrals often. Countertops and flooring would be the main referral request we receive.
