Meet Melanie Gaines of Naked By Nature LLC in West Phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melanie Gaines.

Melanie, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
God has continuously blessed me. Let’s start there. I always knew I wanted to be a business owner, successful, well-known in a down to earth, humble, and creative way. I’ve always had an “artist” type mentality. I love creative writing, poetry, singing, dancing, painting if it’s fun and creative, you name it, I’m down to try it. I’ve been very “adaptable” to many aspects of my life and that has allowed me to be aware of different people, perspectives, and gain strengths as well as learn weaknesses I have.

Becoming a Lash Artist was not a “lightbulb” moment per se but was a semi-impulsive decision because of my strong urge to be a business owner. I’ve always asked myself “What are you waiting for?” “Why not now?” I had an amazing instructor, Ms. Mariah who was very informative and took her time to make sure when I walked away with this knowledge that I was confident in having it. Then, Naked By Nature was birthed, a name chosen to pay homage to an urban but yet very classic era in music and style. I am a big Naughty By Nature fan and a fan of many Hip Hop/R&B artists from that era. The ’90s are it for me!!!! That was an untouchable decade of music and life that will long live in my heart. Naked By Nature LLC where urban edge meets beauty and class.

I’m truly humbled by all the experiences I have been blessed to have thus far, I have met quite a few amazing ladies that have become clients and/or business “buddies”. I love bouncing ideas and sharing knowledge with anyone willing to listen and learn or vice versa. It’s been a little over a year now for me and I am always a work in progress but definitely one that prides herself in all she does. I have the utmost support from family, my beautiful mother, my three amazing children, my motivation, they are the leaders of the future for sure, and an amazing man in my corner that gave me great inspiration in this process and my business partner in love, an abundance of friends and family from all walks of the world to show me love in this journey of mine.

Born and raised in the Philippines, military brat to the core, and love the change and diversity I have been exposed to, the world is beautiful. We all have the platform to do ANYTHING we put our minds to. There is so much more to come for Naked By Nature LLC as well as more future endeavors in Melanie’s path. I would like to thank any and every one that has supported my dreams and ideas. We are all on the same ride. Let’s continue to be supportive of one another. One Love.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road but a great eye-opening experience. I think I struggle the most with being a perfectionist. I love my craft and want the best, be the best, and do the best work I can, it’s not easy being your own worst critic. I’m sure many will agree with me on that.

Naked By Nature LLC – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Naked By Nature LLC is my baby, my brand. I am certified as a Lash Technician. I specialize in individual eyelash extension application. For me, “lashing” is not about being a production line. I don’t rush through my process; I take my time and make sure I walk away with a satisfied client at the end of the session. I grow bonds and build connections with my clientele, some like family. I think what sets me apart is my originality. I know women love the glitz and glamour of the “beauty” world but I’m not that, and many “lash” specialties advertise that way. I just want my clients to feel comfortable and have a great experience with me because that peace of mind knowing you’re in good hands is everything when you’re a “service” provider. I grew up quite a “TomBoy” but trust me when I say, I clean up well when my lashes are fly LOL.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Taking the step to create a career for myself. That’s where it begins… believing in yourself first!
