Meet Megan Davies of Desert Holistic Health in Scottsdale Ranch

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Davies.

Megan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Desert Holistic Health was established in 2015. I never actually thought I wanted to be a business owner, however, after working for a local med spa with a very unethical owner, I decided I never wanted to sacrifice patient safety for profit and decided I would open my business and do things the right way.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
At first, I opened only one day a week but soon realized if I was going to make this business work I needed to give my clients more availability. There are many struggles no one tells you about when you open your own business. For example, finding the right system in order to manage inventory, schedule clients and process credit cards was definitely a challenge in the past. We had to switch systems three times before we found something that worked for us.

Please tell us about Desert Holistic Health.
I received my Master’s degree from Grand Canyon University and am Board Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. I have over 15 years of experience in many facets of the healthcare industry. My experience extends across many disciplines including acute care settings, home health, managed care, as well as practicing in offices specializing in family health, aesthetic treatments, and weight management.

Currently, my practice focuses on Aesthetic treatments such as wrinkle reducers like Botox and dermal fillers. I think what sets me apart is that I genuinely want to do what is best for my clients. My industry is very much about upselling and fitting as many clients in as short of a timeframe as possible. Because I own my own business I book out more time than most businesses do so that I have plenty of time to spend with my clients and answer all of their questions. I personally have had experiences where I have felt rushed out of an office and I never want my clients to feel that way.

I am very proud to have been named a Real self “Best-loved injector” and also the winner of the 2019 “Best Botox in the Valley” award by Arizona Foothills Magazine.

I love sharing my knowledge with other injectors and offer private training in my office. I also am Medical Director for a few medical spas in the area and find that very rewarding.

How would you describe the type of kid you were growing up?
I was definitely a perfectionist- my mother actually bought me a book about perfectionism! I had an interest in quite a variety of subjects in school and was in advanced art classes as well as advanced Science and English. I enjoyed volunteer work and was very active in a variety of volunteer projects including volunteering at a food kitchen and tutoring Spanish.
