Today we’d like to introduce you to Meg Brunson.
Meg, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
The path to where I am now has been full of twists and turns. I was following a pretty traditional corporate path until my third pregnancy. During that pregnancy, I faced a variety of health concerns and almost died twice.
I remember hearing doctors talking outside of my hospital room – a room in the same hospital where my dad died when I was only 11 – and those doctors, they were discussing my “odds” – the likelihood that I would return home to my kids – and at that moment, I realized just how valuable my time is. It was time for me to stop punching a clock. It was time to jump into entrepreneurship with both feet so that I could be a more present mom to my children.
I began exploring different business ideas, and my first successful business was centered around a mommy blog. It was such a great way to make money while spending quality time with my kids – since the kids were involved in the “front-end” of the work!
I had been using Facebook marketing to grow that blog, and then became the go-to Facebook marketer among my circle of mommy bloggers. I returned to the corporate world for a year to work at Facebook, where I dove deep into understanding the inner-workings of Facebook Ads, then I launched EIEIO Marketing. Through EIEIO Marketing, I support other parents through leveraging Facebook to build their business, their revenue, and their legacy.
Since launching EIEIO Marketing, I’ve also launched a podcast called FamilyPreneur where I interview entrepreneurs balancing family and entrepreneurship – some are even raising entrepreneurial kids, or kids themselves crushing it in business! I also wrote and illustrated a children’s book this year called ABCs of Business – which allows entrepreneurial parents to spend quality time reading to their kids while introducing them to business concepts. The book has changed the way my kids and I talk about business!
My goal in life is to empower more moms to build the life of their dreams and become the parent-entrepreneur they want to become. That’s why I wrote the children’s book, launched the podcast and founded EIEIO Marketing!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My whole journey has been full of failures – I think most entrepreneurs will agree with me: that is the way it typically goes! But, despite popular belief, those failures are a really good thing! They show us what does not work so that we can refine our processes and make them better.
Please tell us about your business.
EIEIO Marketing is a Facebook Marketing agency focused on family-first businesses. What that means is that we typically work with parent entrepreneurs or businesses who are catering to the family-friendly market We are known for leveraging paid Facebook Advertising to generate traffic, leads, and a positive ROI for our clients.
We’re most proud of our clients’ successes – when clients are so happy that they leave us a positive review and/or refer someone else to our services! That’s how we know we’ve done our job!
As a former Facebook employee – my unique insider-experience and knowledge set us apart from most other agencies. We also work exclusively with family-first businesses and contractors to execute all projects and participate in ongoing education directly from Facebook, and from leading marketing strategists and mastermind groups.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We’re shifting a lot of focus on education. Up until now, our 1:1 agency work was our primary service. However we’re finding more and more entrepreneurs and small business owners want to learn the basics themselves, and/or they want to run their own ads first, before outsourcing them. We did launch a digital course last year, have received a ton of feedback on that and will be refining that experience in 2020 to best serve our clients!
