Meet Matthew R. Fajardo of Fajardo Visuals in Glendale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew R. Fajardo.

Matthew, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Since middle school, I have been fascinated with photography and video making. I would shoot and edit photos and short videos on my iPod touch. The first time I used an actual camera was during my 8th grade class trip to New Orleans, and I borrowed my aunt’s small point and shoot. During that trip, I took so many photos I was in love!

In high school, I got my own DSLR during my sophomore year for a Digital Photography class. That class was the first time I learned about the basics of using a camera, different styles of photography, and editing in Lightroom. During this class, I became obsessed with photography and was determined to learn more even after the class.

While learning more about photography, I stumbled across YouTube filmmakers like Casey Neistat and Peter McKinnon. From that point on, photography and videography have been a part of my everyday life constantly teaching myself about my craft. Because of this, I have been doing freelance work, and I have decided to major in Digital Film Production at Grand Canyon University.

Has it been a smooth road?
Since starting my art, I have been lucky to not have many struggles. The only struggle I’d say I had was during my college application process I did not know if I should major in Digital Film because the career path is not considered to be “safe” financially.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am currently an aspiring filmmaker, and photography for me is another creative outlet for me. When I think about work, I would say my style is eclectic. I find joy in shooting video or photo of anything, and I cannot subject myself to one style. I’d shoot anything that inspires me or I would tell any story someone wants me to tell for them.

When you look back, what are you most proud of?
I would say the proudest moment of my career so far was my first freelance photography job to take photos for a gym located in Los Angeles, California.
