Meet Matthew and Kristina Frosch

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew and Kristina Frosch.

Matthew and Kristina, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
We began our journey in 2013 when we opened our first location in a very small space tucked into historic Litchfield Park, AZ. We had a very simple 1 BBL, 31 gallons, brewing system and just 16 seats available for patrons. In November of 2015, we opened our Peoria, AZ location; Peoria Artisan Brewery and Gastropub. Executive Chef Michael leads our kitchen serving scratch food to our amazing customers while our Head Brewer diligently brews his unique craft beer creations on site. We have a 5BBL brewery and a full kitchen where we serve a New American style cuisine. The dining area seats about 70 people and the patio seats about 80 after having just completed a patio expansion in September of 2019. The bar is indoor/outdoor with a garage door that allows us to open up to the beautiful AZ weather. We maintain 20 taps, one of which is a non-alcoholic Root Beer. Typically, we have 10 or more of our brews available with the remaining taps as guest beers that we rotate frequently. You can take any one of our brews home in a growler (bring yours in and we will fill it) or have it canned in 32oz cans fresh from our taps. We also serve a variety of wines and hand-crafted cocktails which we develop in-house and craft from scratch.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As with most things in life, there have been struggles along the way. With the support of our customers and the hard work of our team members, we have been successful in navigating stormy and calm waters. Understanding our customer base while ensuring we following basic business principles of cost controls and budgeting has allowed us to advance and develop our business. Whether the struggles have been regulations, equipment maintenance or employee hiring, we have been able to overcome and work through them over the years. Running a business is a journey and the challenges are never ending but worth the efforts.

Please tell us about your business.
We are very proud of our small brewery and the dedication we have to hand-crafting our brews and the creation of our cuisine. We aim to provide various options so that any craft beer drinker or foodie will find something that they enjoy. We are proud of pushing boundaries with our food and ensuring that we have consistent craft beers and a variety of those beers that are true to style. We are most proud of the cohesive craft environment that we have been able to provide to our customers: service, food, beer, cocktails and wine all available to a range of customers and all of the highest quality. Consistency across the board and focusing on the customer experience, not just one component of the business, has been a huge accomplishment for us.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Crabbing with my grandfather on the East Coast when I was very little. Being with him while crabbing and then being able to go home and enjoy our catch as a family.
