Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt De La Piedra.
Hi Matt, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story is unique. I started working in behavioral health in 2012, as an entry level tech. I grew with that company over three years and eventually took what I had learned & took a chance on myself. In 2016 I opened my first substance abuse & mental health facility in Scottsdale. Over the next three years I opened up in Denver & Sun City as well, we helped thousands of people before private equity came knocking. We sold to an international PE firm in 2021 & I was put i to a 5 year no compete in Arizona & Colorado which sparked my home service journey. Currently I own Blackstone Contracting a commercial/residential GC, Blackstone Roofing Group, Blackstone Electrical, and MD Asphalt. We stay extremely busy serving the states of Arizona & Colorado with these businesses & we are growing every single day.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not. I have had my own struggles no doubt. Struggles in life & in business like most. When I was younger I battled with addiction & that is actually how I got into the mental health field. I never looked back one time since God changed my life. I’ve committed to helping others who were struggling no matter what the cause. In business, there’s always hurdles as you know, but I surround myself with good people and always put my best foot forward.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I actually owned five separate businesses. Blackstone Contracting Group, Blackstone Electrical Group, and Blackstone Roofing Group. In addition to that I own MD Asphalt, Icarus behavioral health, New Mexico in Nevada and Limitless investments.
The majority of the businesses I own currently are in the home service space. However, I do still own healthcare facilities in New Mexico, Nevada and growing daily.
Limitless investments is my real estate holdings company. We do acquire single-family rentals, Multifamily units and venture capital into business.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I believe that my gratitude and my heart is responsible for most of my success. I’m grateful for every single minute because of the struggles that I’ve been through in my life.
