Soirées started from the idea that any company or individual should be able to host high quality events that create connections – without wasting valuable time and resources.
After working sometime in the marketing department of a small business start-up, Soirées founder Mary DeWitt, experienced first-hand how throwing events can cut into company resources. While the events were valuable in boosting brand recognition, gaining new business, and retaining clients, they also cut into productivity when the whole team had to pitch in to pull off an event.
Most small businesses don’t have the means, or the volume, to have a dedicated full-time event planner. This is where Mary saw the opportunity for Soirées – an event planning company that helps businesses and individuals reach their goals in a way that’s stress-free and cost effective.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There are always challenges when starting a new venture. We needed to figure out what approach worked best for our clients and how to streamline the process in order to save everyone time and money. Through a lot of trial and error, we have created a system which allows clients to easily choose what they want, and when they want it.
We focus on continual growth, improvement and education which has helped us overcome many of the struggles new business owners face and will help us continue to grow and be successful.

At Soirées, we believe in professionalism and fun can go hand-in-hand. We work with businesses of every size to create events that fit their goals, budget and vision. Along with corporate and political event planning, Soirées offers support for event promotion and marketing.
With most event planners, you have to get a hold of them, wait for a proposal, make changes, get it back, etc. It’s a time consuming process. Soirées has changed the game. We created an online system where you can choose from one of our pre-made packages that fit your event type, book online, and pay your deposit. We then contacted you to get any details we need. It’s a simple and straightforward process. We’ve created a product out of a service.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up on a cattle ranch in a small town in Washington helped to shape a lot of my personality. I needed to be able to work hard, problem solve, self-manage, and stick with it until the job was done. These skills served me well when I participated in horse shows, school band, dance, volunteer work in the community, and later on college and careers.
With being the second youngest of six kids and living on a lot of land, there was always something to do and we were rather inventive with our activities. We built rafts and forts, explored every inch of the property, climbed trees, and caught crawdads. I became very independent while still being able to work well with others.
