Today we’d like to introduce you to MarQuita Edwards.

Thanks for sharing your story with us MarQuita. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Last year, I conquered depression. Here’s what happened.

Without going too deeply into my story, there were several tragedies and challenges that I faced over the last decade that had me hostage in a state of persistent sadness for years. I was immobilized by pain from the past, regret from bad decisions, and I was overweight. I decided to do a detox to jumpstart my weight loss. One day, while I was sitting in the living room with my family, I had a breakthrough. I had this beautiful idea to come to me out of nowhere. The idea was to do a complete mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional detox, all at the same time. It was like a voice had spoken to me and I was instantly invigorated.

I decided that I was going to get rid of my negative thoughts and reverse my damaging emotions. After just 24 hours of being on this “super-detox”, I had another breakthrough while I was talking to myself in the mirror. The most powerful and transformational words came out of my mouth as if they were coming straight out of my soul –like a warrior rising from the ashes. The words were …

“Everything that has happened in my life has led me to this moment. And in this moment, I AM more than a conqueror!”

That was the day The Declaration was born. At the moment I spoke those words, I was set free from depression and it manifested over the next year.

Now, I am on a mission to teach others to speak powerful words over their lives and to the masses so that they too can live more fulfilling lives and create massive impact.

Has it been a smooth road?
The main obstacle that I have faced is that what I do is so novel. But in any event, every obstacle that I have faced along the way made me stronger and wiser. I simply continue to evolve and leverage the momentum of each progress no matter how small.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
My business is TALENTS Studios, an entertainment and creative arts company that produces video content and provides creative performance training.  At the core of my being, I am an artist in many facets and I am always writing.  I have a background working in Film & TV as a producer, editor, director, and trainer for actors.  I now use this experience to coach speakers, activists, and performing artists to tell powerful personal stories so they can transform lives, connect emotionally with their audience, and establish a creative uniqueness from their competition.

I specialize in Spoken Word Poetry, Christian Spoken Word Poetry, and Monologues.

What sets me apart from someone like a creative coach or an acting coach is that I teach writing and I implement transformational pedagogy to aid in the personal development of the client. I also use my proprietary methods.

I recently launched my first live show, Conquered, which is a mix of motivational speaking and spoken word poetry.  I will soon be launching my signature program Transformation Through Spoken Word, to guide others in their life transformation journeys.  In the works are: a live-action short film about depression and a television series focusing on relationships – both incorporate spoken word poetry in the storytelling.

I am most proud that I stepped out on faith, started my business and that I am powering forward with my vision.
