Meet Mark Ginsburg of MARKGSHOOTS in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Ginsburg.

Mark, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
It all started when I bought a camera back in early 2017. My buddy and current roommate & I were very inspired by media, always watching YouTube videos and admiring some of the amazing tones we saw on Instagram. Funny enough he bought a camera before I did. In some way, I’ll say I was inspired by his work and when I found that an old friend from Facebook was selling a Nikon D50 for $100, I couldn’t resist. Aside from working three jobs at the time, I was shooting whenever I got the chance from the moment I laid hands on that camera. Whether that be shooting portraits for other people or shooting landscapes at night. I fell in love with capturing the perfect shot and telling a story within my images. Fast forward a few months down the line, we decided it was time for a change and ended up moving here to Scottsdale, Arizona from Chicago, Illinois. A wide variety of opportunities began to open up. To this date, I’ve had the opportunity to capture all types of photography. I prefer to shoot events but love just anything. I’ve shot food fest festivals, an array of concerts, portraits, weddings, sports, you name it. It’s been a blessing to be able to wake up and shoot every day.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road has been smooth for me so far. The largest obstacle I’d say I had to overcome when I started as a financial obstacle. I didn’t have enough money to afford photography equipment, let alone studio time to shoot my clients. More business has allowed me more freedom in sense to be able to give my clients what they want, where they want, and when they want. Ultimately, after a while of shooting and saving, I was able to get all the gear that I need to be exceptional to today’s standard.

Please tell us about your business.
MARKGSHOOTS was started about a year ago. I specialize in event photography such as concerts, festivals, weddings, etc. However, I’m most known for my concert photography. Shooting for the likes of hip-hop artists such as Skizzy Mars, Chelsea Cutler, Abstract, etc. The thing I’m most proud of is that I’m able to stand out in such a saturated market. There are so many event photographers out there, the fact that these artists/companies choose me to shoot there events is honoring and makes me feel amazing at the end of the day. What sets me apart is the professionalism and the want of getting that amazing shot. I will work for hand and hand with the people I shoot with to ensure they are satisfied with the raw images before the edits and will gladly revise a photo based on request once the final product is delivered.

As far as credit is concerned, I owe a large amount to YouTube. I’ve learned so much just by watching videos. Our generation needs to understand the power of the internet, you can learn anything you want by searching for it. That’s not limited to just photography, either.
