Meet Marissa O’Connor of Arizona Coyotes in Glendale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marissa O’Connor.

Marissa, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I began my career in entertainment working for E! Entertainment in Los Angeles. While working for E! I also had the opportunity to freelance for the United States Olympic Committee during Sochi 2014 assisting their social media team. From there I quickly fell in love with the fast-paced and unpredictable world of sports social media and soon began my career with the Arizona Coyotes. I spent three seasons as the Manager of Social Media Strategy for the Coyotes and this past summer was promoted to Director of Social Media Strategy. I truly don’t think there is a more fun job out there than mine!

Has it been a smooth road?
Like any career it’s had highs and lows. I’ve been fortunate to have many “pinch me is this real life” moments but with those always comes days you want to pull your hair out as well. Luckily, my highs have greatly outweighed the lows.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Arizona Coyotes story. Tell us more about the business.
I develop the social media strategy for the Arizona Coyotes. We’re constantly creating new methods for engaging with our loyal and passionate social media fanbase.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Social media is truly unpredictable! We now live in an incredibly connected world and I think we’ll always be finding new ways to connect with one another.
