Meet Marissa Delgado of Arizona Homegrown Experience

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marissa Delgado.

Marissa, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I grew up as that fun, wild trouble making kid from South Phoenix. The South Mountain area is my home and Phoenix is my heart! I began my career in baking and pastry but quickly realized the fire was where I belonged. It has always been a dream of mine to own my own business, one that always takes steps to move the Phoenix culinary scene forward. Arizona Homegrown began as a fun way to bring intimate high-end dining to bars without food in Phoenix. Our first pop up dinner was hosted at King’s Convenience in Downtown Phoenix. I wanted to bring a unique fun dining experience to a casual setting utilizing the best ingredients Arizona has to offer. From their Arizona Homegrown was born.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Nothing in the culinary world comes easy, especially in the current COVID world! My wife and I have been in the industry for years and have worked in a variety of local places from high end resorts to local coffee shops. Opening something of our own has always been a dream but sometimes you need a little push, Covid was our push. Initially we started by banning together with local restaurants as well as our culinary friends to create the Arizona Homegrown Dinner Project which gave free meals to out of work food and hospitality workers. The struggle to help our friends in need gave us the push to create our own private chef and events company. This industry is always changing and you have to stay on toes to keep up with the fun of it!

Arizona Homegrown Experience is a Private Chef, Meal Prep and Catering business. We offer the ultimate Arizona culinary experience from the comfort and safety of your home. We specialize in meal planning, catering and curating amazing intimate cuisine to dazzle your guests palates. I could not be more proud of our Arizona Homegrown Dinner Project. Since the beginning, we have served over 1000 meals to our culinary friends in need. Our motto of fun,flavor,flair sets us apart from the rest. We are always on top of the trends creating new, fun and unique dining experience for our clients.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have most definitely payed more attention to my icecream in the final round of Chopped! Other than that, every choice that was made has made me the person I am today!
