Meet Mariah Riney

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mariah Riney.

Mariah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always wanted to own my own business, and through hard work and some great mentors, it happened for me! I studied graphic design at ASU (Give ’em hell devils), and that opened up many doors in marketing. Everything since then has been a trial by fire situation. I learned social media, PR, copywriting, promo item design, and event management from the best in the Valley. When my former company closed in January of 2019 it only made sense that I use all of these skills to start my businesses. I specialize in creating an online presence for companies and influencers. This involves everything from creating logos to designing websites and helping them get their foot in the door with PR and media connections.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth ride the entire time, but I made up my mind that this is what I was going to do and there was no other option. Finding clients is often the hardest part. People’s reputations and businesses are their babies (which I get!) so it can be hard for them to give up some control. I often go to networking events to find new clients, cold pitch companies that I see need some help or get referrals from past clients that are happy with my work.

Tell us more about your business.
I specialize in creating a holistic online presence for people or businesses. It started that I knew graphic design and some social media, and then people just kept asking me if I could do X or Y. Instead of saying ‘No’ and outsourcing it…I learned the skill.

This makes me a one-stop-shop to help you get ahead in the game. I have all the skills of a ‘Marketing Manager’, and often get approached for this position, but working for myself allows me to help more people, work remotely, and it ends up being a lower price tag for the clients in comparison to them hiring someone in the house. Not to mention I can get jobs done quicker since there is no outsourcing to a designer for marketing items.

So if you’re looking for someone to tackle your entire online presence from Facebook management to website design, to even crisis management issues, I’m your lady!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I’m very proud of a lot of things in my career! I am very close to finishing my Masters, so I’m sure that will be the highlight come June 2020. But for now, being able to work with non-profits like Throw You A Bone has been great. I love being a part of their events and helping to raise money for good causes.
