Meet Maria Fernanda

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria Fernanda.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I was actually not a fan of makeup. I was very much into sports and makeup didn’t interest me when I was younger. Also, my mom never wore makeup, so I didn’t have anyone to teach me about wearing it. Until my freshman year of high school, when I was asked to prom and my friend who was a senior offered to do my make up for me. She walked me through what she was doing, and it was all very fascinating. What caught my attention was the way she was able to covered up my dark circles, which I have always been insecure about and it made me want to start doing it myself. Slowly my make up bag grew, and I began to learn new makeup skills and continued to get better over time. Although It wasn’t until 2015 when I started working on others as a Freelance make up artist. Ive always been a selfie queen so people really noticed my work and started booking me for their events. I am now a licensed Aesthetician. I am so very thankful for those who believed in me and still support me till this day. And for my new supporters Welcome I will make Arizona very proud!

Please tell us about your work.
I am freelance makeup artist and Licensed Aesthetician. I provide services such as Make Up, Facials, waxing, threading, Lashes and much more. I enjoy being able to get creative when I do makeup but nothing satisfies me more then transformations on clients. Whether it’s just their brows or helping them better their skin. My main goal is to make whoever I’m working on feel unique, beautiful, and confident in their look. I want people to know that my talent with make up is mainly to enhance features that are already there. I became an Aesthetician to help others obtain healthy and glowy skin that we all greatly desire. Having a smooth canvas is the key to a flawless make up application.

What do you think about conditions for artists today? Has life become easier or harder for artists in recent years? What can cities like ours do to encourage and help art and artists thrive?
Due to the fact that the beauty industry has grown immensely over the years, it has opened up more opportunities, but at the same time, it has become more and more competitive. The growth has created a larger platform for more makeup artists to make their mark. In order for cities like ours to thrive, there should be more collaborations and support. There is room for all of us to succeed.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
People can see and support my work on Facebook beauty page at “itgirl slays,” and Instagram @itgirlesthetics, or my website, www.itgirlesthetics.com.
