Meet Marcial Jaime Paredes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcial Jaime Paredes.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Well, I’ve been doing art since I was a kid. I can’t remember of any time when I wasn’t.
I am self-taught. I’ve never taken any classes other than high school. I can remember ditching homeroom in grade school just to sneak into another teachers class and draw. The best part is that she would let me. High school was no different. Art was probably the class I went to most. Lol!

Like many other artists, I got into the graffiti scene, not only for the enjoyment and thrill but as a way to show a little bit of my art with those who caught a glimpse of it. Those years were alot of fun.

I eventually grew out of that and began doing canvases. Now I enjoy showing my work on social media, an occasional art show or wherever I get a chance to.

Please tell us about your art.
I do art for the love of it. I consider myself a mixed media artist. I love creating pieces in any medium and using various materials. For a long time, I was struggling to find the right medium for me until I realized I don’t have to choose just one. Some of my best work comes when I use a mix of things.

Recently I got an idea to try something a bit different. I don’t mean just using a different technique but also using my pieces to reach people in ways that I haven’t before, in times when they may need it the most. Right now it’s sort of hard to explain what I mean, but I guess as I begin making it, it’ll become easier to get my message across.

We often hear from artists that being an artist can be lonely. Any advice for those looking to connect with other artists?
My advice to other artists who want to connect is to go out to art shows and events. There’s a ton here in the valley where you can meet some amazing people and possibly come across new opportunities.
Most importantly, make art for the passion of it.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
Currently, I only show some of my work on Instagram and Facebook. I hope to be doing some shows in the near future, and I’ll also be creating a website just for my artwork.

You can support my work by following me on Instagram to view my work as I post it and to see what I have for sale.
