Meet Madi Robison

Today we’d like to introduce you to Madi Robison.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I have always had a love for taking pictures. In high school, I was the one in my friend group documenting everything we did. I took my first photography class my junior and senior year. In college, photography turned from a hobby into a side job while I pursued my degree in Elementary Education. Summer of 2016, I graduated, got married on the beach, moved to Phoenix, and became a 2nd-grade teacher. For the last two years, I have been navigating marriage, teaching, and how to survive Phoenix’s heat. In March of 2018, I had a strong desire to pursue photography like I had never done before! So with a lot of faith & the support of my husband, I have been doing photography full-time, and I am really grateful that I get to call this my job!

Please tell us about your art.
I am a lifestyle and wedding photographer. I love all moments in life: from babies being born to a couple saying “I do”. My goal is to leave those I photograph with lots of memories, meaningful photos, and sessions that are unique to who they are! For example, I love photographing my couples at the places they had their first kiss or where they had their first date or in their home where they do everyday life together. I want it to be meaningful to the person I photograph and not just a pretty picture for social media. I want there to be emotion, fun, laughter, and beauty in the photos.

As an artist, how do you define success and what quality or characteristic do you feel is essential to success as an artist?
I think that defining success as an artist is really hard because it is so personal. It can be really easy for me to define my success based on the success of others, but this has really only caused comparison, frustration, and an endless cycle of not feeling good enough. So I have had to rewire how I think about success. When I have the courage to keep trying, saying yes even when I’m scared, and continue to push myself to learn and grow I feel like that is a success. I especially feel the most successful when the other areas in my life are well taken care of like my faith, health, marriage, and relationships with others. I definitely want to encourage not only photographers but anyone to find the areas in your own life that allow you to feel the best version of yourself and I have no doubt that it will reflect in your work and your art.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
My work can be found on my website: www.madirobison.com or my Instagram: madi.robison.photos
I have developed such a sweet photo community in Phoenix, but love growing that community beyond just photography! I love meeting people & this always supports my work by having people around me that are cheering me on, allow me to put them on the other side of my camera, and also inspire me by what they love too!
