Meet Lucy Manion

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lucy Manion.

Hi Lucy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I love fashion, and since I can remember, I’ve been swapping clothes with my friends and family and styling them for almost every event, from senior prom to their wedding day. After finding myself frustrated with the selection, price, and environmental impact of items at traditional department stores in college, I discovered the beauty of consignment.

Through conversations with friends, I realized that there was a market for a high-quality consignment store in Scottsdale and there were many women excited to sell their beautiful clothing with us. We’re steadily growing our seller base and women are excited to sell the clothes and accessories they no longer wear for cash or store credit.

Finding items at consignment stores, for myself or my loved ones, is a passion of mine, and I am so grateful that this passion has now manifested as a storefront in Old Town! It’s the greatest joy to meet customers that come into Lucy’s Vault and help them find unique, high-quality items they look and feel fantastic wearing. Lucy’s Vault focuses mainly on consignment but we also sell repurposed goods and gifts. It’s different from many consignment stores in the area because we focus on the customer experience, and truly enjoy helping every person that walks into the store find something special. We’re located on a wonderful street surrounded by women-owned businesses, and since we opened, we have sold clothing to individuals ranging in age from 18-80.

It has been an incredible journey, and I cannot wait to continue to grow Lucy’s Va.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It would not say it was easy and a lot of time and effort went from the vision of Lucy’s Vault to opening the store with lots of late nights and favors from friends and family. One of the biggest obstacles is finding consignors but we have been pretty lucky with this. I was shocked by the number of people willing and excited to consign with us!

We are located in a touristy neighborhood so reaching out to locals and spreading the word of Lucy’s Vault has been another obstacle. I am so grateful to my locals who keep coming back and telling their friends that’s really what keeps their business going.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I graduated from ASU in 2020 and spent the last 3 years trying out different industries until I figured out what my passion is.

I am so lucky I was able to turn what I love into a business and am grateful to all my friends and family who believed in my idea and helped me see it through!
