Meet Liv Domson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Liv Domson.

Hi Liv, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
How I got into makeup is really a funny story…I was working as a remote employee for a corporate aviation company and basically, I didn’t get ready for the day. I sat at my desk without changing out of my PJs and maybe brushed my hair and absolutely NO makeup. I went through a two-week stretch of this before my husband (boyfriend at the time) told me I needed to start getting ready every day and put myself together – I was looking homeless; and as much as I didn’t enjoy the comment, he was right. I took it to heart.

I started watching as many makeup tutorials as I could on Youtube. I was buying makeup and skincare that I had no idea how to use. Slowly but surely, I was building my confidence in beauty. Every time something went right, it made all my efforts worth it. I fell in love with it so much so that I started my own Youtube Channel, and have now graduated to a full-on business. My husband jokes, it was all his idea.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I believe that all endeavors come with challenges.

I think the big one I’m working to overcome right now is promoting myself. It’s been harder than I expected to fill my calendar and share with the world that I am available and operating. Although I’ve had a few successful bookings that I am extremely grateful for, I’m still just trying to get my name out there.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Liv Domson, Makeup Artistry?
I’m a traveling Makeup Artist who specializes in Weddings, boudoirs, & Special Events and sharing my love for beauty. My goal is always to make my clients feel as beautiful on the outside as they are on the inside.

I think something that sets me apart in the beauty community is the fact that I wasn’t one of those girls who knew at age 12 she loved makeup. In fact, I didn’t know how to wear makeup until I was 23 years old! I’ve spent the past three years dedicating any and all of my free time to learning techniques, products, applications, and all things related to makeup and making it wear to the best of its ability. I’m extremely proud that this passion of mine wasn’t just a fleeting hobby I found. It became a passion I’m CONSUMED by, and I love every moment of it. Sharing it with my clients is one of my favorite parts of this whole adventure. Making them feel beautiful is just a wonderful bonus for me.

Brides are my main clientele. I’ve been blessed enough to be a part of the whole process from the engagement, and the bridal shower, to the wedding day. I hope to be a part of so many more weddings, but my services can be more than that niche too. I’d love to be a part of any special event someone is having and wants their makeup done for. I believe everyone deserves to be pampered for big days and getting your makeup done definitely falls under that category for me. Plus, it’s super relaxing and a good stress reliever!

Although I’m just starting Liv Domson, Makeup Artistry, I’ve learned that this industry is so much more than I originally knew. That can be a scary thought, but for me, it just adds to the inspiration to make my business the best it can possibly be.

What does success mean to you?
I think success can be defined in many ways. The one I’m most interested in is getting to the point where being a part of weddings and special events isn’t so much about also having to pay my bills. It gets to where I’m a part of these events because I can be and my clients want me to be.

Success won’t be because I have obligations to fulfill; it’ll be because I created a reputation based on more than a monetary value. There won’t be stress about making sure I have enough bookings during the year. I believe if I can achieve that – I’ll consider myself successful.
