Meet Lindsey Schwartz of Powerhouse Women Event in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Schwartz.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I grew up in WI and am a proud Midwest girl at heart! Right after college, I packed up my life and moved west to pursue the corporate dream, only to realize that it was NOT for me. I dove into personal development searching for a way to create a life building my own dreams instead of someone else’s. I just had a gut feeling that there was MORE for me.

I started my first business at age 26 (a wellness coaching business that I still have, with Isagenix) and through that journey, I fell in love with entrepreneurship. I talk to so many women who wish they could stay at home with their kids, travel more often, or simply create life on their own terms. But I also see the same limiting beliefs and fears that I had to overcome, stopping these women from pursuing their own dreams.

This discovery led me to write and publish my book, Powerhouse Woman: How to get out of your own way, fulfill your unique purpose, and live a powerful life in 2017 and create the Powerhouse Women event. The goal of the event is to help women get into action around their big ideas and dreams and to create a community of women who share resources and genuinely root for one another to win. We want to see the idea of #womensupportingwomen become more than just a nice hashtag we throw around on social media, but something that we all live out in our daily lives.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Ha, no way! I think like anyone pursuing big goals, I’ve had to face equally big fears and insecurities (I still do on a daily basis). I faced a lot of fear in writing my book and planning my first event, neither of which I had any experience doing!

With the book, I did NOT consider myself a writer. At ALL. In fact, I had a health & fitness blog for three years and published exactly three articles in that time. I was so afraid to put myself out there, and even more afraid of what others would think. It was crippling. So, to overcome that fear and write a whole book was probably one of the coolest accomplishments of my life thus far.

With the event, I had the vision of bringing like-minded women together for a beautiful day of inspiration and connection, but had no idea if anyone would actually show up! It took a big leap of faith (and an even bigger financial investment to put down the event deposit) to go for it and trust that the right women would show up for the event. And they did. It was the most incredible day and we’re now planning for an even bigger 2018 event!

One thing I’ve learned is that the fears never go away. If anything, the bigger the dream I’m chasing, the bigger and louder the fears are likely to be.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
The Powerhouse Women event is for any woman who feels like there is MORE for her in life. She may be building a business or side-hustle, creating a passion project, or just be looking to connect with other like-minded women. The event is equal parts inspiration, connection and application. We have speakers from a wide variety of industries and backgrounds, sharing the authentic truth behind their own journey and the success they’ve created.

I’m most proud of the genuine connections that women in our community are making. We have a Facebook group called the Powerhouse Posse which is the online forum for women to connect, share ideas and inspiration, and support one another.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was ambitious but also pretty shy and awkward. I loved playing all things make-believe, so I guess you could say, I had a pretty active imagination!
