Lillian Jackson is best known as the co-founder and creative muse behind Brown Skin Brunchin. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Maryland. Her corporate career has spanned almost 20 years in in the field of Human Resources. While she has had a long corporate career, she has an entrepreneurial spirit and loves helping others create their dream company.
Melissa Mason, Entrepreneur, Psychologist and Social Worker @jusmelissabsb
Melissa Mason is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, and holds two Bachelor’s degrees, one in Social Work, and another in Psychology with a concentration in Applied Psychology. She is passionate about building community, and empowering others, especially women and young adults, through education and enriching experiences.
How has your group grown since the last interview?
Brown Skin Brunchin experienced 232% growth over the past year, the organization is amassing a rapidly growing community of over 42,000 women. Brown Skin Brunchin typically hosts 1500 women on a monthly basis at delightful and luxurious venues throughout the world.
Founded in 2018 by and for women of color (bi-coastal LA) in Richmond, VA, Brown Skin Brunchin’ currently operates in 87 cities around the globe, such as Los Angeles, New York, Miami, London, Paris, Dallas, Phoenix, Las Vegas, with more events being announced regularly.
How did you grow the community?
Brown Skin Brunchin’ has been able to grow the community by fostering a culture of connection, community, and enjoyment.
How can our members benefit from networking?
Brown Skin Brunchin was designed to provide professional minority women a solution for social isolation, so they can expand their personal and professional circles without the awkwardness and dullness of traditional networking events.
What are some tips you have for those that are looking to network?
The best tip we can give someone that is looking to network is to be yourself. Create authentic relationships with those that you meet to build long lasting relationships.
