Meet Lilach Power

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lilach Power.

Lilach Mazor Power is the founder and managing director of the Giving Tree Dispensary, an Arizona-licensed vertically integrated cannabis company. The Giving Tree’s 15,000 square feet of cultivation and extraction, fuels both retail and wholesale sales. The former Israeli soldier earned her bachelor’s degree in business and marketing from the New England College branch in Tel Aviv before coming to the U.S. and opening The Giving Tree in 2013. Since then, The Giving Tree has continued to grow with plans to open operations in both Puerto Rico and Israel within the year.

Lilach places a strong emphasis on corporate citizenship. Her goal is to make a difference within her company, the industry, and the world. In the past five years, she and her team have raised over $90,000 for various charities while providing countless volunteer hours to give back.

One of her latest projects is Kindred, a cannabis lifestyle and product brand which aims to bring people together through cannabis while evolving the image of the cannabis user.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s just beginning to seem smooth but that wasn’t the case early on. Giving Tree opened in 2013 and has faced many challenges and obstacles along the way.
– There was a change in majority ownership in 2015 seeing Lilach becoming the sole owner.
– New legislation was constantly challenging the company to stay compliant.
– Finding the formula and team to grow quality flowers consistently.
– Identifying opportunities in the market was challenging but we’ve been successful with our brands and the decisions made for them.
– The decision not to sell to a larger company like many other mom and pop dispensaries with hopes of a bigger pay off when AZ goes recreational.
– Finding a new location has been a challenge due to all of the variances in the process.

Tell us more about the business.
The Giving Tree is one of the last remaining majority-owned cannabis companies in Phoenix. We are proud to say that we’re not only known for our quality products and informative service to our patients, we also take pride in our philanthropic efforts, helping multiple charities year-round.

Of course, being a vertically-integrated company sets us apart from most dispensaries. We’re able to grow, harvest and extract from our flower. We currently have two brands in the AZ MJ market, Kindred and Katatonia.

Kindred being our high-end capsule line. Tested and provided in measured dose sizes, it’s a convenient and discreet option for medical patients. Its mission is to de-stigmatize cannabis users by showcasing highly-functioning, professional individuals from our community who use cannabis. It has been a very successful brand for us.

Katatonia is our newest brand, released just a year ago this Oct. It was created to serve the heavy users and people who prefer concentrates over flowers or edibles. The product line has some of the purest THCA available, testing at or above 100% purity in some cases. We have won awards for our Isolates or “Diamonds” in local competitions.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck has a role, no doubt, I am lucky to be born to parents who always made me believe I can do whatever I dream to do. I have sisters who have been my biggest supporters. I have a husband who always encourages me to follow my dreams no matter how crazy those are and how much work and travel is included. I have a team that works very hard to help me make this dream a reality. Now all of that is luck! But it’s also a lot of hard work. Luck gives you some opportunities, I understand that and I do feel lucky! But without passion, hard work and commitment, luck isn’t enough. So, at the end of the day, even though luck had a role in our success, we also work hard, are committed and we don’t give up.
